All hotels reserve the right to inspect your room whenever they need to. The privacy sign just means you don’t want room service, it’s not some magical lock.
They’d still knock, not just burst into your room to catch you in flagrante.

Wow you’re right. It’s not talking about CO2 per MWh it’s talking about total CO2 per year. What a completely useless comparison.
Also the source of the C in the CO2 is important, rendering this comparison even more pointless.
The show has real Late Late Breakfast Show vibes. An 80’s BBC show where the public took part in more and more over the top stunts. In the end someone died and the show was cancelled 3 days later.

I saw ‘Postcard from Earth’ there. It was fine for a tech demo but nothing more than that really. Left feeling that it was worth experiencing once, but not so amazed I’d rush back to see something else. I guess that’s true enough for a lot of stuff in Vegas.
I remember the ‘good old days’ of Sun Fire 10k and similar servers. You could replace entire boards of CPU and RAM and the server would keep on trucking.
Or for an American airline, mostly credit cards, and then some bits about flying.
Maybe, or maybe they realise how screwed they are and will just save some of the cash for a future election.
Because it’s actually really hard to achieve technically. When ads are served outside the stream you can easily serve different ads to different viewers based on their profiles. When the ads are baked into the stream you can either
A) Create a whole bunch of different copies of the video asset with different ads baked in and then rotate these on a regular basis. Which would be expensive to update and store and limit the range of adverts that could be served to a particular user.
B) Dynamically create a stream on the users request, which while possible means standard CDN caching isn’t going to work so there’s a distribution challenge.
Or some other alternative they’ve come up with. I’d be really interest to know what their approach is here.

The ‘45 seconds to respond’ format was a mistake. Fewer topics with longer responses might actually have been interesting, but this stifled all opportunity for any thought to be expressed in anything more than trivial detail.
I wonder how many millions they need to be inspired to update their platform so it doesn’t need a regular outage every Tuesday.
