Today I learned about non-military “civil defence” which this seems to be an example of. It was an interview on the new “elbows up” podcast. Many countries have much more robust programs (Scandinavia, Northern Europe). Like the entire population being trained in first aid, preparedness, and communications. Lots also have mandatory military service or at least more trained reserves.

Just stop using it!! Meaning government officials agencies etc. It blows my mind that any thing close to any level of government in Canada still has or uses an account there

Being cut off by the US isn’t a thing. These US businesses operate in other countries solely to extract revenue from their governments and consumers. We (Canadian here) should be so lucky to have them disappear so we can build economic and cultural independence. Such a change will not be made by the US. Instead, we cut them off.
