Idk if I'd really consider it an ad for the book tbh. If anything it's an ad for another Eurogamer article, which is an interview they did with Jason. It's pretty common for sites like this to link to articles that have similar topics to keep you reading

[–] chloyster 3 points 1 month ago

Yeah tbh I wasn't expecting to find it fast but thought I'd give it a shot 😅

I definitely agree with that. You're right. However it is also frustrating on our small instance to have a user repeat the same talking points in multiple threads time and again, and when pointed out that what is being said is a misrepresentation of the facts, not respond and pick up with it again later in another thread

A supporter who introduced Jill Stein at an event and is a notable member of the party (my former councilwoman actually)

It's extremely telling that whenever they are presented with these facts they refuse to respond

So many... My backlog is big but I've been trying to work my way through it. Currently on my mind though is octopath 2, Grime, Ghost trick, Talos principal, and the trails games

I'm super happy with it so far, though I am not quite as far. I got up to Woodside apartments last night before going to bed.

Totally agree on the ambiance. They absolutely match the original and Akira Yamaoka did an amazing job in this department yet again. Also agree on the dialogue, really happy with it so far. I was worried due to how much I disliked the hd collections redone vocals but they did a good job here.

So far haven't had much in the department of graphical glitches, though I did notice my frame rate tanked when I got to the apartments at the end of my session so I made need to tweak some settings.

Combat hasn't bothered me but also I'm playing on standard and haven't gotten the pistol yet so my thoughts are developing. Melee is quite satisfying in this game though imo

Agree on the steam achievements haha.

While I'm still early it does seem like they've grabbed the vibes straight from the original and dropped them into a modern coat of paint. And at the end of the day sh2 thrives on its vibes, so I'm very happy. Excited to keep playing

In the past you have stated that the Democrats had control of Congress and the presidency under Biden and Obama, yet they were unable to do things like get a public option in the ACA or codify roe v Wade. However this continues to be a misunderstanding of the situation.

https://19thnews.org/2022/01/congress-codify-abortion-roe/

While I can agree I am disappointed in the inability to get these things done, and Obama saying it was no longer a priority, I don't see how you can pin this all on the Democrats as some kind of monolithic entity.

The fact of the matter is during Obama's terms, there were anti abortion Democrats. These Democrats were enough to keep abortion access out of the ACA and prevent roe being codified.

Fast forward to Bidens terms, and we now have a filibuster rule that requires 60 senators in order to pass stuff in the Senate. There were not 60 senators who supported roe codification when the Democrats "controlled" the Senate.

People who support abortion access are going to vote for Democrats because as time has gone on, the Democratic party has rallied around abortion rights, while Republicans have rallied against it. Opinions changed, and the Democrats are now the party of abortion access. Blaming the current state of things on a monolithic democratic party is in my opinion a bad faith warping of the situation

Good questions!

Tbh the only starting points I would recommend is the original or some version of sh2. Since it seems like this remake is really good I think it would be a great place to start!

Imo, the 2 S tier silent hill games are 2 and 3. However 3 is a direct sequel to 1 (an A tier game, only knocked down from S tier by PS1 jank) so i do think that should be played before 3.

The remake makes things a little different since it's gameplay style will be pretty different, but my normal recommendation was:

Play 2 (PC enhanced edition preferably), if you enjoy that, then play 1 and 3. If you want more, play 4 (the last made by the original team and a good B tier game imo, but a bit different than the other 3). If you still want more, check out origins (a, imo, C tier game, the first made by not the original team but the most respectable effort of this new generation of games).

I'd say after that I personally don't find any of them worth playing. Shattered memories isn't my favorite but it definitely isn't a bad game. I'd say play that again if you want! It's more or less a very strange reimagining of sh1. An interesting game but not for me. A fine place to continue if you want more.

Homecoming and downpour are just quite bad imo. Stay away

You get whats up!!! Unbelievably stoked for this

Silent hill is one of my favorite series, and I'd argue the last time we even got a decent game was back in 2007 with origins. The drought has been unreal. I can't believe we are finally eating good again

Not a particularly interesting article necessarily, but I wanted to share this as the list is actually quite good in my opinion, and it's laid out very nicely. It's one page that's very easy to scroll through. Might find some things you havent played!

Whatcha been playing!

I finished the little metroidvania crypt custodian which was super fun! Highly recommend. Also been playing a lot of the super Mario Sunshine mod that came out "Super Mario Eclipse." Adds lots of qol stuff to the game and fun new movement, on top of 120 new shines it's really fun!

But most of all I have been playing tf out of Astro Bot. Holy shit this is one of my new all time favorites. This game is so insanely good. Absolutely in love with it

An insanely close race that was the focus of WA state for the last few weeks with a lot of lessons learned I think.

  1. Down ballot races matter. Upthegrove got second by only 53 votes in the end. Vote!

  2. Washington's mail voting system works. There were roughly 10 vote numbers changed in the entire state after the hand recount was done.

  3. First past the post voting is awful. The Democrats got the majority of votes, but it was split between 5 candidates vs the 2 Republican candidates. We almost had a general election with 2 Republicans up in an extremely blue state. 2 candidates who are in the pocket of the timber industry.

Whatcha all playing!

I finally finished crow country. Game was great! I thought the puzzles started off a little too easy but they got better as the game went on. Really hope to see more games from this dev soon!

Started crypt custodian. A really solid top down metroidvania. I'm about 5 hours in and am at 50% completion. So pretty short overall I'd say. Def recommend if you're looking for a quick fun time

Absolutely the best way to place this game. Huge props to everyone who worked on this!

What have you all been playing?

I'm still working my way through Arkham Origins. Also playing some zachtronics solitaire on the side
