It was a bit slow lately. But what I found really weird is that my feed wasn't being updated earlier today. Using 'hot' generally has posts from 1-2 hours ago and it was being shown posts from 4+ hours ago.

It's all back to normal now so it's all good.

Read an interesting idea today. Let subs become unmoderated free for all so chaos would reign. Not gonna lie, I'd like to see what it would become hahaha.

Yeah, I'm feeling a bit lost here too. I've been using mostly 'hot' (found this post using it), but there's also the issue with dynamic posts, that suddenly there's a cascade of posts being loaded and you lose where you were on the feed.

Does this momentary overload impact the feed across instances? I was testing it today and was getting different feeds on different instances, even though I had the same settings ('all', active, hot, new comments, etc.). I had the impression that the 'all' feed would be the same in every instance, considering that they are federating somewhat the same instances.

I'll be honest, I feel like reddit is better for mindless scrolling, but here is way better for actual interactions and discussions.

I'm no expert, but probably has to do with collecting data and showing ads. And also having more control of how people interact with the platform (new desktop interface + official app).

It was sort of expected, unfortunately. Let's see if they keep doing it to other subs and how things will go if they keep removing mods.

Agreed. Also their hardware and software integration, long term support, and battery when compared to other flagship phones, although the s23 seems to be on par with iPhones this time around.

Customization, being able to easily install apps outside the official store, set default apps and IMO keyboards prediction are better on android.

Check https://lemmy.directory/ out.

This is part of their announcement:

Our goal is to try to provide a feed of the widest range of Lemmy communities possible, by subscribing our Lemmy instance to nearly every community on other Lemmy instances. This aggregation of communities can be seen by browsing our “All” feed. You can imagine us trying to be like reddit.com/r/all.

So I stumbled on this instance https://lemmy.directory/ and wanted to sub to it so I can find more communities and posts, but I can't seem to find how to sub to the instance itself, not any of the communities within this instance. Is this possible? Or can I browse this instance's "all" from beehaw?

Thanks in advance!
