Hey, thanks for the post! :)

Just a small correction:

some of the changes include: ..., polyseed support, ..., removal of in-app donate to developer feature, ...

I didn't add polyseed support, this was already part of mysu done by pokkst :)
Donate feature wasn't removed, it was changed - now instead of "add a chance of sending percentage of my transaction" (which could, theoretically (pokkst took some measures to make it harder), lead to a fingerprinting risk) there is "donate" button which simply pastes the address into destination field (btw, this is still pokkst's address).

Thank you :)

Just to be clear - all the credits for creating Mysu go to pokkst as he is the original author, I'm just building on top of his work.

My bad for not clarifying - this is an android wallet previously developed by pokkst

Hey folks, I finally got around to setting up [an extremely ugly, but nevertheless working] pipeline to automatically build Mysu (it only builds arm64 images for now, so they might not work if you have a very old phone. This probably shouldn't affect many people, but if it does affect you and you would like to test Mysu - please let me know).
Testing and feedback is welcome :)

I'm thinking about adding

monero.stackwallet.com:18081
rucknium.me:18081
rucknium757bokwv3ss35ftgc3gzb7hgbvvglbg3hisp7tsj2fkd2nyd.onion:18081
plowsofe6cleftfmk2raiw5h2x66atrik3nja4bfd3zrfa2hdlgworad.onion:18089 (or plowsoffjexmxalw73tkjmf422gq6575fc7vicuu4javzn2ynnte6tyd.onion:18089)

Because them seem to be ran by known community members (although I will need to confirm that the ones that seem to be from rucknium and plowsof are actually run by them).

Add cake wallet nodes, sethforprivacy

👍

monerujo clearnet (as it already appears to have monerujo i2p/onion)

nodex.monerujo.io:18081 is already in the default node list :)

Using nodes directly from Monero fail probably is not a great idea because we already know that blockchain surveillance companies are running nodes that they leave RPC open for hapless wallets to connect to as demonstrated by the recently leaked video.

Fair enough.

@rottenwheel@lemmy.zip brought up the issue of using samourai wallet nodes in Mysu.

I agree that samourai wallet nodes should be removed, but I'm wondering which other nodes we should (and more importantly should not) use by default?
Should I just copy random nodes with good uptime history from https://monero.fail/, or is there some consensus in the community about some nodes being a little bit more trustworthy, e.g. due to being run by trusted community members?
Anyway, here is the list of the current default nodes: https://codeberg.org/anoncontributorxmr/mysu/src/branch/master/app/src/main/java/net/mynero/wallet/data/DefaultNodes.kt, your feedback is welcome.

Have you changed the donation address to yourself since you are the one working on it?

No, the donation address is still the one that belongs to pokkst. Considering that the only thing I've done is bumping monero version (with cherry-picking polyseed & coin-control patches) and some very minor changes - I think it wouldn't be fair to immediately change it :)

Or if not, have you decided where donations will go? Or if you will turn them off entirely?

At least for now, I think it is only fair that donations will still go to pokkst for all the work he has done.

However, if pokkst will not return to continue the development of mysu and I will be the actual new maintainer of the wallet (which means doing something more than just bumping versions here and there, e.g. adding new features), then I'll probably change the donation address to my own. In that case though, I'll probably also have to change the name of the wallet, because technically I don't have permission from pokkst to use "mysu" name. But this is a problem for another day (unless pokkst will reappear and explicitly say I can't use it - in this case I'll change it immediately).

Some context for people not familiar with mysu: the donations that we are talking about is an optional (and I think disabled by default) feature that adds 0.5%-3% donation to your transaction with 10% chance (so it would donate 0.05%-0.3% of your total "volume" using the wallet to the donation address).

Feel free to create an issue with a feature request :)

Thank you. I am aware of the bounty, but in addition to updating to newest monero version, it also lists

  • multi wallet support
  • subaccount support

as requirements.

I don't plan to add subaccount support (although I might try to add multi wallet support if I will have time for that), so probably I shouldn't claim it :)

Hey folks, I've updated MySu to use monero v0.18.3.4.

I will try to build and publish APK(s) later, for now you can try to build and test it manually.

Feedback is welcome :)

Disclaimer: pokkst is the original author of MySu, I only updated it.
