It just goes to show that the way others see us isn't the same as how we see ourselves.

I highly disagree. You can't expect every comic to be top shelf, especially if you're getting it for free. OP has been improving with every post - because they're gaining experience with practice. Hiring a writer (with what money?) would undermine their own growth. You're welcome to read more polished comics (like The Weekly Roll), but remember that people dont magically spring up with skill in art and writing right out of the gate. Not to mention that once someone starts making "professional level" work it's either paywalled or lower priority than paying work.

Constructive criticism also isn't "just stop doing that". You need to give actionable advice. For example, I always recommend new comic creators pick up the Understanding Comics/Making Comics/Reinventing Comics trilogy by Scott McCloud. They're textbooks that cover all sorts of writing and illustration techniques.

I like this story, and it's certainly better than something I could write or draw. The frequency of updates has been amazing. I'm excited to see where things go.

It's an older meme, so it's possible OP just googled a quick template and didn't realize it wasn't the original.

😂 leave that shirt as it is. Use it to decorate your house, and as a reminder of your hubris.

Oh man, you guys are thinking way too big. Become the CEO of 3 small companies! Abscond with your 3 100k paychecks while working 10 hours a month. You'll never make the news. Enjoy the easy life.

I know about 5 different people's names at work. If I meet someone new, I forget someone else's name.

Cause that's how brains work.

So cute 🥰 can't wait for tomorrow!

Also, that background is gorgeous.

I appreciate you trying to educate this guy, but it's a two day old troll account. They're intentionally being pedantic.

My dude, no. You completely twisted around my words and made a strawman. And your comment proves my point - this is exactly the type of behavior I was seeing from hexbear users. Following a community where people post pictures of their pets has nothing to do with animal rights/activism. I do not want to talk about animal rights, I want to see cute puppy pics and talk about how cute said puppy is. Ditto for all of your other slippery slope arguments.

All groups are inherently political? Please touch grass.

...what? I think we are in two very different corners of the internet. I follow animal groups, hobbies, work related stuff, and art. None of that should have people screaming about politicians or voting or laws or anything related to politics. I can get all of that from informed sources like AP or Reuters, and when I'm done with the news for the day I'm done. My social media feeds have zero politics, which is why I didn't like hexbear users - they were injecting politics into my non political spaces.

I'll vote when I can and protest when I can, but I don't want to doomscroll through a bunch of angry people when interacting with them has no personal or social benefit.

So I actually clicked on the link because I wanted to read the article, but it said "that's it. There's only a headline" 🙃

I've got an app called SmartNews that pulls news from lots of different sources and aggregates them. My feed is set up to pull news only from the front pages of AP and Reuters - which seem to be mostly unbiased sources that both sides get info from for their articles and they use unbiased titles. I skim to the end of my feed (which isn't very long, maybe 20-30 articles) read a half dozen of them, and that's my news for the day. Every other media source has news and politics 100% filtered out.

I feel like it's enough info for informed decisions and topical conversations with my coworkers, but not so much that I dwell on news in my off time.

Recently saw this and wanted to share. Even if you're not in the market for industrial equipment, there's lots here for the average person. There's Juki sewing machines, giant ladders, servers, fancy office furniture, conveyor belts, trucks, band saws, just all sorts of stuff. Most of it is at $10 or less!

I haven't updated my music instrument library in years, especially since newer official software doesn't play well with pirated plugins. The last time I downloaded VSTs was 2012ish, back when PB and KAT were still good sources. Music technology (and the instruments people like to listen to) have taken a huge leap since then. I do mostly pop and jazz, so I've got East West, Session Horns, Session Strings, Broadway Big Band, Kontact, and a couple miscellaneous Native Instruments plugins. Does anyone know of production level VST sources for newer versions of these or better software?

My apartment complex is very dog friendly. It's just shy of 100 units and I'd guess around 80% of people have at least one dog. I'm one of those people that doesn't - but only because I can't handle having a pet with my work schedule right now.

So needless to say I see a lot of dogs in the hallways. Every time I cross paths with one, they stand in my way and expect pets. No matter how much their owner tugs on their leash and calls their name, they'll stand firm. They won't jump, or bark, or do anything bad, but they won't move! The only thing that works is to give them a pat on the head and tell them what a good boy/girl they are. Then they wag their tail and go on their merry way.

I don't know how this culture started, but it's been around a lot longer than I have. Every dog knows if they meet someone in the hallway, they're gonna get pets. So they wait. And you gotta, it's the rule.
