Reposting this since my last one never got any replies and I'm still on it lol

Hey all, as the title says I’m interested in hosting an instance in the cloud, just as a little bit of a project to improve my skills. Was wondering if there are any considerations I should keep in mind while doing this?

Here’s what I architected so far:

I’m going to be using a t3.small as the main webserver and a db.t3.micro RDS for PostgreSQL for the DB. The t3.small is going be running on Ubuntu 20.04 with a 20GB gp3 EBS volume. The DB is 30GB single AZ to save some money. Everything’s going to be in a custom VPC, the web server in a public subnet and DB in a private subnet, with an SG to allow the two to talk

Seems like that’s about all I’m going to need for now to get started, is there anything I’m missing here?

As an Iranian, yeah sounds about right. The Ayatollah is so full of shit. With that said please be sure to be careful to not be racist. The Iranian people are all great people, it is the government who is evil.

Im having the same problem and it really annoys me. Makes finding/ interacting with new content a pain in the ass. I either have to look at the some posts over and over again on local or try to catch interesting posts flying by in all

Also an 11 year Redditor here haha.

I got my start browsing rage comics on iFunny and 9GAG, then began browsing Reddit around 2010/11. I finally made my account in 2012. I too watched as Reddit became overrun with bots. I watched as summer Reddit stopped ending and became the norm, people responding in comments with corrections and more information lessened, the obvious astroturfing increased, obvious propaganda took over almost all the defaults, and most importantly, they started shutting down subs that might possibly maybe make them look bad for an IPO.

They desecrated the grave of Aaron Swartz on spit on his name by removing him as a co-creator of Reddit. The cartoonishly evil decisions came one after another and I've had enough as well.

Voat didn't stand a chance because the people who were migrating over were lurkers.

I genuinely believe in Lemmy because this time, it's the mods. The people that actually keep the site running.

Fuck Reddit, fuck u/Spez, go Lemmy

The problem is not all conversations are either sharing an interesting link or deep conversations about life, the universe, and everything. What if I just want to give my opinion on a pie recipe I liked, but want to say more than "damn that shit was good!". Twitter stifles all forms of conversation, it's a site dedicated to one liners and quips. Even what I'm saying now is more than 250 characters.

They just want to be the ones in power so they can indiscriminately shit on anyone. As a brown man I'm deeply uncomfortable. I'm seeing a lot of similar rhetoric thrown around after 9/11 that made my life a living hell for a while. Frick

I think zoomed in pictures of your pet is the funniest genre of pet pictures out there. Share your photos, I love to see them!

I just saw all the icons switch over to the new, bee themed ones. I love it! The old icons were cool, but having it all black and white made it feel a little cold. I also like that they're hexagons (bestagons).

Good work Aaron and the Beehaw team!

No matter how hard you try, you can't ban the good vibes with drag events! So nice to see so many queer rangers as well
