That's him.

The two-term governor made it to the debate stage twice, gaining some name recognition when he became the first candidate to offer $20 gift cards to those who contributed $1 to his campaign in an effort to hit the RNC’s qualifying rules that candidates must reach 40,000 individual donors.

I honestly didn't even know he pulled that stunt initially. Good lot that did him.

Palm Trees by Jungle. Honestly, anything on their latest album "Volcano" is amazing, as are the music videos. Seriously worth a watch.

I've only used Evernote sparingly over the last ~12yrs. 67 notes across 5 notebooks. Think it was one of the first apps I downloaded when I bought an iPad and iPhone. Still went ahead and exported everything, even though nothing of any serious importance. Some are just funny memories.

I would like to find something similar, maybe even self-hosted so it's free. I keep seeing Joplin anytime someone mentions notebook programs; time to look into that.

It really was. I was more freaked out than he was. Even though it was video, I specifically yelling out, "someone needs to call 911!" So, so much blood...

Oof, hope you get back to 100% soon, Alyaza.

And I'm in the same boat, since I finally got COVID. Only took almost 4yrs, but it finally happened. I guess being at the airports, on planes, at an F1 race, a casino, and at a family/ethnic community dinner, eventually put the odds in my "favor." 2 different at-home tests confirmed it. I'm assuming this is a mild case since I've only had a low fever, sore throat, runny/stuffy nose, and some tiredness. Really no aches and pains. And coughing is barely in the picture. Glad I got my booster last month. I think one more day off and I should be good.

Booked my tickets to visit my family for Christmas. While I booked Delta going there, I booked Southwest coming back. I'm a little worried with the SW flight after their catastrophic meltdown last year that ruined my (and many others') Christmas. I've flown them since, but hopefully they're better prepared this year for the holiday season and any winter storms. Though since it's for the flight back home, it's not as big of a deal. I have plenty of vacation days and I WFH anyway. I'll be OK if anything goes awry.

To those who celebrated last week, hope you all had a joyful Thanksgiving!

Yup. I live in Kansas City, on the Missouri side, and there's tons of land that's owned by the LDS. There was an area near where where I grew up, that I drove past many times a week as an adult, that I only later learned was LDS land. Only learned about it after there was talk of developing the area into like a youth sports complex. And that the LDS church owned the land.

FYI, you're on a Beehaw community right now. This type of needless aggression may be acceptable elsewhere, but not on Beehaw.

I actually these little minigame ones as opposed to the text captchas or the "Click all the photos of traffic lights."

My former boss is from Iowa and still maintains strong ties there. He did RAGBRAI a year or two ago with several of his friends from college. Well, I don't think he did the whole thing; only 2 or 3 days of it. Either way, he loved it. I kinda looked at him as if he were crazy when he said he was going to do that, but I do think it sounds like a fun time!

Been decent so far. I'm flying out to Las Vegas later today for the Formula 1 race. And to see my family for an "early" Thanksgiving. We got tickets to go to a practice session, so that'll be exciting seeing and hearing the cars in person. I've only seen and heard F1 cars in action once back in 2019 at a fan event in LA, so curious to see how they sound now. I should probably start packing...

On the work front, I successfully helped get my co-workers to New Orleans for a conference our company is putting on. I'm in charge of technology and logistics for events. Everything got shipped on Friday and arrived on Monday with no issues. I'll be supporting them remotely in case they have any technical issues, which is a first. I'm always on-site with them for events. First time since 2015 that I'm not on-site.

I'm using this as a trial run of sorts, so that I don't have to go to each of these (which is only twice a year). I enjoy traveling, but work travel isn't always fun. It does mean I'm working outside of my normal hours since my co-workers may have issues that pop-up before/after the event begins/ends each day. And since I'm on vacation later this week, even potentially working while on PTO. Which is fine; I'll just take comp time for it. For this specific event, I'd much rather support my team remotely, than actually be on-site.

It's been a thing for a while now. I picked some up bedbugs while doing US domestic travel in like 2014/15. It was awful. Spread to a second room in the house before we were able to stop them and get rid of them.

But there are occasionally media panics about it. That said, better to be somewhat proactive with it. It's cheaper to buy an anti-bed bug bag and be vigilant than is to deal with them. If you're lucky, it's just a lot of cleaning-up, wiping down all surfaces with bedbug sprays, lots of washing of clothes (even clean ones), and throwing out things that appear to be infested. At worse, it could be several hundred dollars or more of intensive professional services that aren't even guaranteed to get rid of them. Either way, it's fucking miserable.
