Use same keybinds as in other Emacs buffers to manipulate the text e.g. search, copy/paste, folding; matching theme; project context; etc.

I think I thought the same as you, but got used to the default setup. I don't mind pressing the Shift key as it feels intentional and makes me focus on doing meaningful changes between compiles instead of fidgeting and just spamming the compile all the time.
