Mixtape era Canibus. You should also revisit the DJ Tony Touch 50 mixtapes that featured freestyles from the emcees of that era.

Mos is frustrating to me because he's so dope yet so artistically inconsistent when it comes to output-we get the too occasional amazing guest verse but his post Black on Both Sides albums are either too uneven or stingy.

That's also the new album I'm most looking forward to checking out. I feel like he's retained his signature dusty sound much more than a lot of other rappers from his generation

Awesome to see Roxanne Shante MC Lyte, Latifah, and many others share their stories and continue to be celebrated for their groundbreaking contributions. Also dope to see Bahamadia!

 

Anybody watch the live stream? A very mixed line up of old and new artists, and the crowd seemed dead, but there were a lotta great classic artists. Nas (with surprise guest Lauryn Hill) was the best
