Magazines / communities are the equivalent of subreddits. Threads are basically submissions. Microblogs are Mastodon like toots. It's a Twitter alternative, so it's like tweets but within the fediverse.

Nothing happens to them, they just can't bother you by filling your frontpage.

In kbin you can easily block magazines / communities.

They have their own server too, but it isn't open to the public.
