In the Homelab and in the real world I occasionally need to configure a old device that is using outdated web setup pages. Some require special plugins, some require old version of Java, some only work in IE, some are using old TLS versions etc.. etc..
What is the best way to go about this?
Right now I just keep an Windows 7 VM handy laying around. But I was wondering if their is anything better options.
Ignoring the data integrity.
I personally think SSDs would last longer then a HDD and their are no moving parts.
Tapes last 15-30 years according to the manufacturer but similar to SSDs will degrade as you use them.
I think it will come down to the environment they are in.
