So, unbeknownst to us this little dude climbed under our car and rode about 50 miles from work to our home. Once we parked he refused to come out, parkouring all through the engine compartment for over an hour. When the sun went down I decided to remove the floor to the engine compartment to cornor him.

The mission was a success and he was relocated to a foster home. To honor the light that help rescue the kitten I ordered an upgraded XHP 70.3 HD to swap in the TC20. I will report back with new beamshots in a few days.

It depends on the size and geometry of the head and reflector itself. If you compare two lights like the IF22 & IF22A, the IF22 has a head about twice as tall to accommodate the reflector while the IF22A gets nearly the same throw with a TIR and shorter head. So the reflector throws farther but the flashlight is longer.

If you want the most throw possible you'll need a deep reflector. Though when considering form factor TIRs might be the best in their weight class.

I recently picked up a KR1 with 70.3 and it's phenomenal! Not as much juice as. D1K but I suspect the beam is just as good. Mine is 3000k and Hank's stock of that temp is gorgeous.

It is a P60-style drop in that you will need.

I've heard the XP-G3 in white is pretty good.

Have you thought about a UV engine?

Okay, true story. We had a meetup of flashlight nerds at a state park with a lake. This was the third or fourth time. Apparently the park closes at sundown but we never had an issue and I for one never saw that rule posted anywhere. But this time two police SUVs roll up on us. When they asked what we were doing and we all answered something along the lines of "showing off our flashlights!" they were flumaxed. It took handing them a GT90 before they believed us. In the end they let us stay for as long as we wanted because we were being respectful of where we were and nobody who's up to no good would use "flashlight meetup" as a cover story.

I don't think that story will help you out but hopefully picturing that interaction makes you chuckle and I wish you all the best in your nighttime hikes.

What are you running in it?

They look so good! But... But... My rainbow C8's... I don't need another set of colorful throwers, do I? Oh no...
