Hi all,

I stumbled on Asus Router's VPN fusion functionality. I have a NAS mini computer that I store files, watch movies, etc.

When I enabled the VPN fusion service through my VPN provider (nord), I noticed that I was still able to connect to my NAS (Running CasaOS, Jellyfin, etc.). When I checked my ip address going to the internet on the NAS through docker container chromium, it showed that it was indeed going through the VPN (different IP address).

So here are my questions:

  1. I am assuming VPN fusion routes all my traffic through the VPN (in this case through Nord). Correct?
  2. I am assuming since all my clients are covered by this VPN, the router is able to let me access local devices that are on my network even though all the devices are connected via VPN? Is this safe?
  3. Would there be any security concerns with having my NAS computer be funneled/tunneled through the VPN fusion and Nord? As in I keep it enabled and make it force all traffic from my NAS IP address to go through VPN Fusion. Also, if this is enabled, will I still be able to access the NAS through my local network so I can get on to CasaOS?

Thank you!
