More than 1,000 events and performances will bring the city to life as part of this year's Brisbane Festival with one of the festival's biggest shows transforming an entire warehouse.

"Riverfire will open this year's Brisbane Festival rather than closing it, lighting up the sky over the CBD on September 2.

Ms Bezzina said Riverfire would be framed by drone shows for the first time, with a massive 400 choreographed drones telling the story of Nieergoo: Spirit of the Whale."

Ooh, that sounds like so much fun. Who's going?

Thanks! Just booked tickets to Lightscape in the gardens. I’m a sucker for lights on trees. :)

Looks awesome but almost $130 for a family!! That's a hard sell.

Yeah it’s only me and kiddo, but it’s hefty prices. Take me back to 1c cobbers and 50c minimum chips 😄

The riverfire drone show sounds cool.

I like blowing up shit as much as the next guy, but a choreographed drone show telling a vstory sounds amazing
