A modem router combo is generally not recommended here since most people in this sub are privacy and performance oriented. Some even take it further by having the principle of one device only has one job, which means this single box should’ve been separated into four devices - a modem, a wired router, a switch, and a wireless access point.

Does it mean everyone should follow the same? No, definitely not. Some people value convenience above everything and that’s okay. It’s just this device in specific is quite old, you might want to find one with WiFi6 (AX) instead.

What’s the advantage of WiFi 6?

Nooooooo

No combos. DOCIS 3.1 perfect. Then get a proper AP. Add a SOHO firewall and you’re good to go fam.

Other commenters are assuming you want a rockin network and your replies suggest that your just need something simple.

Yes, for a small apartment and just a few devices, this will work just fine.
