Hi, I'd like to have on a single computer HomeAssistant and a NAS server, so I was obviously considering Proxmox. Well, now I don't understand what is better to do: Virtualize TrueNAS? Or creating a ZFS RAID pool directly in Proxmox and using a containerized Samba? Or anything else? Thank you.

I've got Unraid running in a VM under Proxmox with my array passed through. It works great!

Depends on whether you want your NAS to just be NAS or you want to be more like a server with docker containers etc. I use mine for just storage and set up the ZFS in Proxmox and using Turnkey file server as an interface for setting up shares, etc. They have a template in Proxmox for the Turnkey File Server and it uses almost no resources.

Run TrueNAS Scale on bare metal and virtualise or containerise HA on it.

I'm running proxmox + lxc for samba. Works fine. I'd say the decision is do you want a server that moonlights as a nas, or a nas that moonlights as a server.

I have not tried trunas (scale or core), i have data on an existing mdraid setup that i knew i could get working with proxmox.
