I tried googling it but I couldn't find anything (might've searched for it wrong). does that mean the comity needs to approve it?

Short answer, yes. Think about it like registering for a website somewhere. Sometimes it takes a bit for the confirmation email to arrive. "subscription pending" means it is waiting to finalize the link to the other instance.

It is a "side effect" of this federated network. If you subscribe to a local thread, it is instant. Going to something non-local takes a bit.

Thanks! I sorta figured that but I just wanted to make sure.

If your communities are stuck on subscribe pending for a few days, you can just unsub and resub. This helped me fix it.

You are subscribed but the remote instance didnt respond in a short enough time window

I was wondering the same thing earlier! Does anyone have an idea on how long until it’s no longer “pending” and just subscribed? (Probably depends on the instance, I guess)
