The One by Taking Back Sunday has been hitting all the right boxes for me, which is something I never thought I’d say. It almost feels like U2 meets the Killers at parts. I really dig it.

Blackwater Holylight is another new discovery for me. Heavy riffs, smooth melodies, great vocals. I’m gonna explore more of these ladies’ stuff this week.

Finally, I found myself returning to Killers by Iron Maiden a lot this week. Such a great sophomore record, and the intro of Wrathchild gets me going more than any other song in a long time! Genghis Khan is also one of my favorite metal instrumentals ever. Check it out if you haven’t heard it before!

wasn’t expecting to like these as much as i did! taking back sunday is a band i’ve been meaning to look into for a long time, but have never really gotten around to. and blackwater holylight, while a little bit low energy for me personally, has a really lovely laid back sound that i like too!

your ghengis khan suggestion reminds me of this ghengis kahn which is a pretty different genre, but pretty catchy nonetheless

The video for Miike Snow's Genghis Khan is pretty great.

Glad you checked them out!

Blackwater is new to me as well, but the mellow vibe mixed with sweet riffs hits the spot when I’m in the mood.

The Genghis Khan you shared is catchy as hell!

Stelvio Cipriani is an italian composer Ive been listening to recently, and he goes purely all out in all his music. He is famous for composing for old movies, and his soundtracks are beautiful. My favorite song from him is Mary's Theme - From The "Femina Ridens" Soundtrack

I've been listening to all of Billy Joel's live albums, and I especially enjoy Kohuept, his 1987 performance from the Soviet Union. Glass Houses is also still in heavy rotation. Apart from It's Still Rock and Roll To Me, I feel it's pretty underrated, especially Close to the Borderline and Sleeping With The Television on.

I discovered this classic-sounding upbeat reggae track by the Steadytones over the weekend thanks to Craig Charles' Radio 6 show, and can't get enough of it. I couldn't believe it when I found out it only came out last year. It's blatantly going to be my song of the summer - it's got such a great laid back summer vibe!

Wow!! Very catchy! I’ve never been much of a ska person but this is sweet.

[–] rustyspoon 2 points 1 year ago

Is this ska? I'm not an expert on either genre but it sounds more like reggae to me. I expect ska to be more up tempo and have some horns

[–] thumbtack 1 points 1 year ago

definitely very summer vibes and catchy! thank you for sharing :)

@Evolone I recently found this shared by quite a bunch of my friends on Facebook:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59Q_lhgGANc

I vaguely remembered it, but I never knew which song was it. It's really not my genre, but it does have a cool sound and is catchy at the same time. Plus the music video is quite cool.

just got around to listening to 3d country by geese and its pretty fire. unique record with a fun energy

also been pretty obsessed with cave world by viagra boys this past week, this album has some tracks that i just keep coming back to. other than that just been listening to a bunch of ambient and whatever spotify recommends

[–] Evolone 2 points 1 year ago

Wow, I had never heard of Geese but this is sick! Thanks for sharing.

Love Viagra Boys. I missed seeing them when they had a tour stop in my city last year and I really regret it.

first of all, GIANT shoutout to (sh and suicide tw) ghost by badflower which has been stuck in my head for a week or two at this point- so good!

i’ve also been listening to a lot of hail the sun and LS dunes in preparation for some upcoming summer concerts! in particular, grey veins and chunker have been my favourites!

first time doing embedded links i hope they work okay 😭

[–] Evolone 2 points 1 year ago

Thanks for sharing these!! You did great with embedding the links.

Chunker is sweet. Definitely going to be vibing with that one for a while.

Grian Chatten's (of Fontaines DC) solo album came out, it's pretty good.
