Also from small government—> here’s another law to do X

Stop making more oversight laws and claim to be pro small government. Pro small government people should see a “freedom of information act” as an opportunity to declassify information. “Big government doesn’t want you to know about … but here it is, with minimal details redacted”

Yep, more hypocrisy from the right.

Their value system does not consider consistency as a virtue. This is why shaming them as hypocrites does not bother them or resonate with their supporters.

To have an affect, the shaming needs to reflect their values. For example, being lazy and not wanting to work.

Sarah is too lazy to do good work that would hold up to public scrutiny, so she's trying to change the law so she can hide her low quality work.

This has a better chance of getting her supporters to question her actions, putting her on defense.

Shaming based on civilized values does not work on the uncivilized.

Governor Sanders went to the Paris Air Show to promote Arkansaw's aviation industry. Procedure requires two State Police guards on overseas trips. She took five. She had guests on her plane that haven't been revealed to the public. She REALLY doesn't want to public to know how much this trip cost.

One of the exemptions being added to Arkansa FOIA law would exclude any attorney material. This was used to cover up Jerry Sandusky's sex crime career.

Elections have consquences.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Friday proposed shielding a broad range of records about her administration, travel and security from public release as she called for a special legislative session next week focusing on additional tax cuts.

FOIA experts said the changes would severely weaken the 1967 law — signed by the state’s first Republican governor since Reconstruction — that protects the public’s access to government meetings and records.

The proposal would also exempt records “that reflect the planning or provision of security services provided” to Sanders, as well as other constitutional officers and members of the Legislature.

Sanders cited her experiences facing threats going back to her time as press secretary for former President Donald Trump and more recent ones, including an Oklahoma man who pleaded guilty last month to threatening to kill her and other Republican politicians.

John Tull, an attorney and counsel for the Arkansas Press Association, said the proposal, if enacted, “puts a big hole in our FOIA.”

Attorney General Tim Griffin, a Republican, formed a working group in June to look at possible changes to the law to take up in the 2025 regular legislative session.

Taking a page from the #fascist Ron #DeSantis' playbook.
