I don't think Garek would ever truly get drunk. He might pretend to be drunk to excuse certain behaviors or comments, but Garek values control of himself and the situation far too much to engage in drunkenness.
Barbie lives long and prospers every day, but Ken only lives long and prospers if Barbie looks at him.
