Hello everyone!

I've finally released Eternity on the google play store. Note that this is not compatible with the existing releases as this build has a different signature.

Thanks for your support and looking forward to your feedback!

Nice work. I'm using obtanium, which I prefer, but that will give it some exposure.

[–] Spezt@lemmy.zeggit.site 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

For the one person downvoted. Obtanium is not a Lemmy app, but an updater app. With obtanium you can auto update Eternity :-)

[–] makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml 9 points 2 years ago

Haha. Two downvotes. Looks like reddit users really are here πŸ˜€

Can't wait for the F-Droid release!

Just in case you or another reader isn't aware: Eternity is available in an alternative app repository that can be added to F-Droid in the settings.

https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/repo?fingerprint=3bf0d6abfeae2f401707b6d966be743bf0eee49c2561b9ba39073711f628937a

This repo, as stated in the description, takes released built by the developers instead of building them directly.

Still looking forward to the official F-Droid release of course :)

Pro tip, Izzy has a faster update cycle than the official repo so it's a great option for WIP apps even if they are available on both! ;)

best client around hands down

Note that this is not compatible with the existing releases as this build has a different signature.

Back up your settings before uninstalling your old version, then you should be able to import it to the Play Store version!

Settings > Advanced > Backup Settings

Thanks!

I used Liftoff but I missed Infinity since I moved to Lemmy, didn't want to use IzzyOnDroid.

Any plan on a build in the official F-Droid repo?

[–] bazsalanszky@lemmy.toldi.eu 13 points 2 years ago

I'm waiting for a review there as well.

[–] gamey@feddit.rocks 2 points 2 years ago

I would highly suggest Izzys repo for WIP apps, that has a faster release cycle!

Infinity was my favourite Reddit App, so seeing it ported over to the Fediverse is great!

Apologies if this has already been asked, but do you have any intention of making it compatible with Kbin?

[–] bazsalanszky@lemmy.toldi.eu 24 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yes. When the "Lemmy part" is more or less completed, I'm planning on adding Kbin and possibly other fediverse services if I have the time.

[–] Th4tGuyII@kbin.social 5 points 2 years ago

Great to hear!

Fair enough, makes sense with Lemmy being the most active in this part of the Fediverse

[–] Olympus@feddit.uk 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Last I heard Kbin doesn't have an API in place for any apps to use at the moment (Not something I keep an eye on personally, just parroting what I've seen commented previously)

[–] Th4tGuyII@kbin.social 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Ah, it does have one, though it is in beta (last I heard). If I'm remember correctly, there is an app called Artemis using it already

I believe the Artemis instance is the only one with the beta API enabled.

I'm using Lemmy only because you made this app. I hated the desktop interface and all others apps. This is the best without any doubt. Thank you!!!!!!!!

Ps: why is not everyone in lemmy talking and recommending this app???

[–] wanderingmagus@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago

I've used Connect for Lemmy this whole time and haven't had any problems with it. What's the advantage of Eternity?

[–] regalia@literature.cafe 9 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I can't stop noticing that it looks like a black pig with big orange eyes lol

[–] 7Sea_Sailor@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

In fact, I have never even considered that it is NOT something pig-like with orange eyes. Only this here comment made me see the mouse...

[–] raptir@lemdro.id 4 points 2 years ago

I think I only saw it "right" because of the Infinity for Reddit logo.

[–] rikudou@lemmings.world 2 points 2 years ago

Thanks, now I see it too.

[–] ollie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 years ago

eternity is the goat

[–] imgonnatrythis@lemm.ee 6 points 2 years ago

Nice to hear about more great apps for Lemmy! I've become pretty entrenched in Connect with block lists, community specific settings etc. It would be a bit of a task to switch. For those familiar with both, I'm curious if anyone could share pros cons from experience?

[–] alex@jlai.lu 6 points 2 years ago

aw yay, congrats!

[–] user@lemmy.one 5 points 2 years ago

congrats dev/s πŸ‘ well done. using it now.

This is great to see! Definitely makes things easier for ChromeOS installs. Do you plan on periodically merging in changes from Infinity if they're worthwhile? Or upstreaming any of your changes?

[–] bazsalanszky@lemmy.toldi.eu 6 points 2 years ago

Yes! I think there are some features/fixes that could be beneficial for the upstream project as well.

[–] Blaze@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 2 years ago

Great news!

[–] Xandar437@feddit.nl 4 points 2 years ago

Thank you, loving it so far.

[–] FlaminGoku@reddthat.com 2 points 2 years ago

Going to try it out because sync keeps crashing on me.

[–] Plasma@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

I loved using Infinity and now I get to use it for Lemmy πŸ₯°
