If I recall pollymc had a controversy about something that made everyone drop it for some reason, can't recall what it was though
I think polymc and pollymc are two different things.
The PolyMC controversy is that one of the devs went rogue and kicked everyone else off the project, so they didn't really have a choice but to fork. They explain what happened on the FAQ of their website.
It is wild if jetbrains actually gave them IDE licenses, and that other company M1 macs
Edit: I've just looked into it a bit more and those badges are coming from the prismlauncher repo, which is the direct upstream of poly
UltimMC is good. It's a fork of MultiMC that allows playing without account.
SKLauncher allows custom skins and capes
Mineshafter[dot]info is what I used to use back in my cracked minecraft days. It basically provides a modified launcher that patches itself and the Minecraft JAR to look for the Mineshafter login servers instead of Microsoft's. It lets you use singleplayer as well as multi-player on cracked servers that do not force online authentication.
The site is still up and paid for, which means someone still gives a shit about it, so I think it may still be functional. I haven't used it in literally ten years though, so I doubt it supports the latest Minecraft versions though, but you can try it. Oh God. Ten years. I'm old...
Since you are looking to play single player you might also want to check out Minetest with the Mineclone2 addon installed. It is not identical, but it is an amazing substitute and free.
I am sorry for being naive, I saw other comments about using different launchers. Will they help me to download cracked version of minecraft too? I downloaded pollymc and created an instance of version 1.20, but it is not working, the launch fails every time. I was looking to download Java version and play using ely.by account.
I've never tried pollymc, but I've been using ultimmc for some time. So, yes, the launcher and installed java are the only things that you need for playing.

TLauncher has been known to have malware and crypto miners. Please do not use TLauncher
Is there an alternative for simple modpack access? Nephew is using Tlauncher for easy mod switching
