For the record we went with shine on you crazy diamond from wish you were here with the quiet opening and punch when the rest of the band kicks in. Sounded great.

Shaggy - Angel. I don't even like the song that much but the mixing engineer really did his job on this one. The mix is outstanding.
But more important is that you play a song you know well so you know how it should sound.
Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden / first track
Edit: loud
The first time I DJd in a club, I dropped this track purely so I could hear it over a big expensive system. And it was glorious.
Emptied the dance floor, but it was worth it.
Everybody's Talkin' by Harry Nilsson
Probably something akin to a left-right audio test so I know the system is working properly.
I’m going with “Change of The Guard” by Kamasi Washington because it’s amazing. “ The Leper Affinity “ by opeth is a close second.
I really enjoy rock. When I'm dialing in the eq on any new setup I always use Rise Above This by Seether. This particular song is very clear and just sounds better than most songs that I listen to
Beethoven's 7th followed by something dancey like LCD Soundsystem or Late of the Pier. Those are the records I own that I think sound the best.
Dance Yrself Clean by LCD Soundsystem would be my choice.
Funkadelic - Maggot Brain, but from a cd/vinyl or properly ripped flac.
I like flac as it's versatile and I can transcode it without fear but it would surely take an actual mutant with a few million in stereo equipment to tell the difference between flac and a decent lossy rip.
Something will silly bass to give it a workout. Maybe techno or dub. DJ Muggs, Green Velvet, Lee Perry, Aphex Twin kind thing.
I'd save Albert Ayler & Diamanda Galas until it's broken in a bit.
Yes, Aphex Twin - Collapse was going to be my answer.

Time to mention Jon Cater
You go for the bass. Me, I'm thinking Hallelujah, the Buckley cover.
You've lost me on the Buckley thing. Cohen first, then Cale...then maybe if we have time Buckley.
Basically anything by State Azure. Beautiful tracks mastered very well.
For bass testing - 3:25 from "Why So Serious" from the Dark Knight soundtrack. Serious sub-bass warning if you try it yourself, though.
Hysteria by Muse.
Atlas Air by Massive Attack. Really check you have that sub cut over in the sweet spot.
A Milli
I always use Skinny Puppy's 'Jahya' of the 'The Process' album to check new audio installations.
I know exactly how that track is supposed to sound. From the panning between speakers to the EQ levels.
Probably either something off the Dune soundtrack, Interstellar soundtrack, or Krigsgaldr from Heilung's Lifa live album. I might be a bit odd with my musical tastes
I got into the LP game late, and the first record I bought and played was Metallica's Master of Puppets. Still think it was a good choice.
Snarky Puppy's Lingus (from We like it here) for the initial impression because I know it by ear at this poitnt, some Master Boot Record to check the bass response, and some breakcore (probably "The Maid We Messed")
This is one of my favorite songs to use full headphones and turn the volume up on.
(Not everybody's cup of tea)
Myage - Descendents
If you mean dialing in the sound and using songs to test the system, either Hooked on a Feeling, (listen for the bongo man), ain't no sunshine, or Bad.
