Having recently spent time hanging out and chatting to people in some alt-right/anti-government-fringe Telegram groups (yes, I truly am a masochist), all I can say is these sorts of policies are badly needed. We also need compulsory science, governance/civics and media-literacy training while we're at it.

You mean they weren’t already?

The article doesn't seem to do a good job of explaining the change. It hints that they were required to teach this stuff before (how to read and write, basic maths), but now there will be specific guidelines as to what specific things need to be taught.

I'd guess this article was a press release and no one has done follow up research so they can get it in the news quicker.

You're probably right, it's just such a bizarre headline, and the story does little to clarify.

She always looks so concerned and tired. Maybe they are throwing this election so she can have a rest.

Throwing a bone to the wingnut portion of the population who actually believes they are not teaching reading and math at school.

She should also put out a statement saying "we are not going to be teaching about the trans manifesto to force gender change surgery on your kids"
