Berry says the convoy wants to save children from the “human trafficking industry,”

Sounds like pizzagate

but also from “mandating the shots to kids and kids getting sick

Anti-vaxx disinformation

and frigging education and all the stuff they’re teaching them in schools

Anti-education disinformation

and the trans agenda [and], gender dysphoria – all of these things.”

Anti-trans moral panic fueled by disinformation

he and others have shared graphics claiming “the World Health Organization and the United Nations are instructing elementary schools around the world to have pedophilia normalized.”

Anti-LGBTQ moral panic fueled by disinformation

and the math agenda

Ah yes the tyranny of math

You know what really helps solve these imaginary issues? Blocking traffic in Canadian cities, inconveniencing random people, and committing acts of terrorism. Brilliant plan, fuckwits. If only they cared about real issues as much as their imaginary ones.

Oh and then there's this gem:

The “Save the Children Convoy,” a spin-off of recent anti-2SLGBTQ+ protests targeting schools and drag storytime events as well as loosely inspired by the controversial film “Sound of Freedom,” is being planned for Toronto in late summer or early fall. ...
This week, reports surfaced that one of the Sound of Freedom’s original funders had been arrested on child kidnapping charges in Missouri.

"We have met the enemy and they are us."

I can "understand" what they dislike about everything here except for ... math? Like, what? What could anyone possibly have against math?

[–] DarkGamer@kbin.social 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They seem to hate and vilify what they don't understand.

[–] Elderos@lemmings.world 1 points 1 year ago

Let us just say they hate a lot of things.

[–] SpooneyOdin@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 year ago

Maybe they are fans of Terrance Howard's new math?

[–] SpamCamel@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Idk man I'm pretty sure the number 6 transitioned from number 9 and now wants to have sex with children.

Berry says the convoy wants to save children from [...] and the math agenda

uuhm...what...?

He learned they were teaching Arabic numerals and now he's afraid of al gebra.

[–] Elderos@lemmings.world 2 points 1 year ago

haha, wasn't there a video where they asked people about teaching arabic numbers in school and they got really mad. what a great way to reveal your ignorance and xenophobia in one reaction.

It is of acute importance to stay vigilant of mathematicians; we cannot go on tangents and let their plots divide us. I'm sure they're integrating themselves into positions of power, and knowing even a fraction of their schemes could be of prime significance to factoring out their plans to subtract our freedoms.

I've got a math degree, can definitely say I felt like a victim at times

Could be this? https://www.cnn.com/2022/04/17/us/florida-math-textbooks-critical-race-theory

“ DeSantis said state officials “got rid” of Common Core, a standardized teaching method rolled out in 2010. The method requires children to group numbers to solve arithmetic problems, rather than the vertical “carry the one” method familiar to most adults. The approach goes beyond simple computation to emphasize deeper mathematical concepts. The department said some of the rejected textbooks incorporated Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and references to critical race theory – two frameworks or philosophies that some conservative groups claim are being used to indoctrinate students. Some schools around the country have recently used SEL strategies to help students cope with stress and the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning defines SEL as a teaching framework aimed at helping “young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.” More than a dozen states have set standards for teaching SEL in grade schools, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. But as more states consider SEL strategies, conservative groups have claimed critical race theory is embedded into the framework.”

A lot of comments are rightfully laughing at these morons for their infighting and incompetence, but we need to stay vigilant as this is a rising fascist movement. Sure right now it's not well organized and has loonies running the show, but eventually they may attract a very smart evil person into the ranks who could actually grow the movement to critical mass.

[–] Ulrich_the_Old@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 year ago

They are already part of the "base" that Squinty McProudBoy is building.

Anyone thinking Canada doesn't have a mental health crisis, well here's the proof.

[–] EnderWi99in@kbin.social 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

So the message is entirely generic. I guess anyone with that message can join. Should we all just join the convoy in a bid to "save the children" from these people?

[–] Elderos@lemmings.world 3 points 1 year ago

Sometimes it is so dumb it works. The previous convoy was also a "pick your own cause" mess, and I think this helped the movement gather support because a large group of people thought it was for a bunch of good causes like worker rights. In reality it was a loon anti-vax, anti-liberal movement and the organizers wanted the government to resign and give them political positions. not kidding.

I have the opinion that these people are wired to be always thinking of kids, and they recognize that it’s dangerous, but they fail to see that this isn’t normal behaviour. They think everyone else is just as much capable of being a danger to kids as they are a danger to kids themselves, and it terrifies them.

[–] cobra89 14 points 1 year ago

AKA projection. These types of people tend to have that in common.

[–] Elderos@lemmings.world 3 points 1 year ago

yep, people fighting inner demons tend to project their own deviations onto everyone else, and be loud about it. e.g. "I had to force myself not to be gay, hence it is a choice and everyone has those urges. ". Hence also why they think children can be so easily "corrupted".

[–] ProfessorGumby@infosec.pub 12 points 1 year ago

Yeah, we really need to save children from the math agenda.
