I've tried Voice Recorder from F-droid, but for some reason it isn't working. I've recently changed the operating system from MIUI 12 to Lineage OS, so I don't know if FOSS software may have issues recording audio.

On my phone I have the same thing, Just open up the app info through long press or the settings app and check your permissions.

Lineage should come with a audio and screen recorder app built in, named "Recorder". Beware, though, that its name gets translated if you change the system's language.

I found it lacking at best. I didn't even see the option to change the bitrate before recording.

Hmm. Voice recording works perfectly well for me. It definitely should work. May be worth troubleshooting?

I fixed it by using a different app.
