I think ActivityPup isn't even integrated into Threads yet? On release they said soon, a week later they said it was long-time planning. Haven't heard about it since.

@cambionn @Bicyclejohn They've gone from talking about ActivityPub support as a thing that is happening "soon," to something that is "further down the road" and a "long term goal." If they decide they can sustain the platform without it, I expect they'll drop the feature.

On the one hand, great, I don't want Meta anywhere near something I like. On the other hand, my friends are going to be on Threads, not Mastodon, so it'd be nice to follow them without having to go there.

So we have nothing to worry about?

[–] ken27238@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

…….Yet. Some instances have prematurely announced defederation from threads.

You can join any instance and block threads.net once they turn on federation

They probably will when it happens because they're part of the monads alliance

@Bicyclejohn@lemmy.ml Theads isn't planning on joining the fediverse any time soon. Additionally, there is no algorithm here to feed you anything. If you eventually start seeing content from threads, it's because of someone you're following. Unfollow or mute them. But for now it's a moot point.

Mostly concerned because if the hash tags get filled with crap
