Sucks that the best dev they had killed himself over issues of censorship and this is how they want to handle it.
Time to bully the new mods and spam the sub reddit with pictures of John Oliver
Reddit is dead, i've been on there for 16 years, was on Digg before that, Fark before that. Something always comes along, nothing is forever when it comes to the web
Reddit is dead,
You have much more faith than me that the layuser gives a fuck about any of this.
When content creators go, there will be no content left. The average user rarely posts and when they do its nothing worth reading.
It'll be interesting to see how much of the "content" is just bots farming headlines from newspapers, or recycling old content on a schedule. How much traffic is actually user traffic vs bot traffic? Makes me think of the dead internet theory.
A lot of the moderators are/were quite abusive and unbalanced in the way they handled their unearned "power." Not only do a lot of the users not care, many are probably happy about it in the same way many of you were happy when subs were banned and those users left reddit. Reddit has been terrible for years now. The users who are currently leaving due to moral issues with the site are the same users that constantly have moral issues with everything and constantly complain about everything and try to police everyone else. While I no ;onger like reddit and will be happy to see it fail, I can't see the removal of long term moderators and the mass migration of the loudest complainers of the site as anything but a positive for the overall experience of the average user there over the long-term. It's inconvenient now, but that will not last. When things resettle without legacy powermods and the overwhelming voice of the pearl-clutching, concern-troll users........I can't see that as being anything but a net gain for the average user. So not only do they not give a fuck, but to the extent they do, they're probably quite happy to have you gone.
There have been multiple mass migrations away from reddit at this point. The site keeps going, the people still there are glad the others left, and those leaving are the only ones who view their departure as a significant event.
Finally, the former moderator already removed the Reddit account.
I'm honestly quite happy mods are being removed. Reddit has had major problems for years and their moderators are HUGE part of it. The sooner the old mods go the better. I bet OP has removed hundreds or even thousands of posts and users with impunity and no second thoughts. They are only upset now that the same treatment they have given out so freely has now happened to them. It's really poetic justice in my opinion.
Drank the spez coolaid or just trolling? The landed gentry argument is BS. If you didn't like the mods, you could always go make your own community. It's not like there was just one subreddit for each topic.
Probably a troll. Anyone who actually read the post would have comprehended this mod was actively working to make the sub better (or at least help it survive) by revamping their bots/automod. That's not something a lazy powermod would ever do nor worthy of ire and disrespect.
They're just trying to get a rise out of the lemmings. Best to leave the troll under the bridge.
