Was going great until I discovered a new reason to visit the dentist.
Oh, well, just gotta sweat thru the next week, then I can get another root canal.
Take care of your teeth while you are young!!!!

Oh I definitely feel that. In my case, I did a pretty good job of taking care of my teeth when I was young - never had even a cavity...
Then I was on some medication for too long, which had a million side effects, one of which basically destroys the enamel in your teeth, and now I'm suffering because of that. I've been off the medication for a few years now, but the damage is already done.
I feel like I'm going to completely lose all of my teeth before I'm 40 at this point...
Good enough. A very busy week, this week appears to be a return to a more normal level of busy. Some minor social engagements and the starting of a new art project by a loved one.
What's the project if you don't mind me asking?
Directing a local community theater production. Very small production, but it fills my heart to see them grow as an artist.
Very sleepy this weekend. I wish I have more energy to draw and read more
Sleepy too... I had to force myself not to go to sleep at 5pm.
My nose has felt miserable for like a month and I finally have my ENT appointment on Tuesday, so that's great.
Good luck, I hope something gets figured out
After roughly five hours of phone calls, on Friday I somehow managed to get a lead on getting my mother back on social assistance. We have an appointment tomorrow for her to apply. I'm hoping that the application actually goes through and we don't once again get told to screw off.
I'm gonna be exhausted this week!! I have so many appointments.
I was a social worker for a while in what feels like a past life. Trust me, it's infuriating on their end as well there's nothing more frustrating than trying to help someone in need and being blocked by red tape and bureaucracy. I hope all goes well, my thoughts are with you
Thank you, I am super incredibly nervous but I hope it ends up going well. Kinda sucks trying to support another person when I myself am on poverty-level social assistance, but if both of us are on it, it will relieve a lot of stress.
Fucking fantastic! You?
Not bad all in all. I had a lot of projects to finish but they were all fun art projects so I can't complain
Was at the Salvadoran bakery a block from my place yesterday, and an old woman in line behind me paid for my food. I'm not sure if she thought I was homeless or if she thought I was a lost soul that needed to be helped towards the light... (The woman in line ahead of me had just told me god loved me a few minutes before.)
Either way. Always happy to get free empanadas! Took them home, made Turkish coffee. Favorite brunch.
Honestly, kind of bad. Quitting cigarettes due to GERD or intestinal issues and I am going through irritability and it’s honestly kicking my ass a bit.
It does get better. Keep at it. There's an app called Smoke Free that did it for me. Icon is a green heart. I'm at 3 years, 3 months, 3 weeks. You got this.
Don't feel too bad about it. I'm in intensive out patient for alcoholism. Two months sober but I still can't quit smoking. It's hard, best of luck to you
My week was actually not bad! I adopted a couple of snails from my garden and started a new sourdough starter. I was a bit stressed about those things going well but the snail terrarium turned out great and my starter is bubbling along happily. Work was a bit tiring but at least not awful. Hope y’all are doing well!
Could have been better. I'm feeling pretty burnt out at work and we're about to do a relatively big move to a new town, which is always exhausting. The future is uncertain. Really hoping for future days where I can just relax and focus on things I actually care about
What an odd expression "shoot the breeze" is. Wouldnt the breeze knock your bullet off course? And if there is no breeze to shoot and you shoot anyway, is the bullet big enough to make a breeze? Important ponderings.
It's the exact futility of shooting something immaterial that explains the idiom
It’s been a good week! Unlike a lot of weekends, I’m ready to go for next week. Missing the usual existential dread of another work week, so I’m excited about that.
Lots of appointments this week and all of them were good news (surprisingly).
This week only has one thankfully and I already know it's going to be fine as it's just to adjust some medication up.
I got 2 big tasks done this weekend, a resin 3D print for a friend and painting about 80ish paint swatches for my miniature paints.
Absolutely fantastic :) my partner and I made our way out to the middle of the desert on Thursday to take some shrooms and do some stargazing — it’s always amazing how much beauty there is when you manage to escape your routine
Pretty good actually! I got to spend some time with my fiancee's family and managed to find time to put 30 miles on my bike. My dad was under the weather so I wasn't able to see him, but he's starting to feel better!
Stressful as I have been running into computer hardware issues with no money to guarantee I can fix all possible causes. I love tech but sometimes it's so anxiety inducing!
@Calvinball one of my team thought it was Friday on Monday. So no matter what I had going on I knew it was better than that poor soul.
Happy Father's Day to all of the dads out there!
Was not feeling well for most of the week, and my city is experiencing historical heat waves (feels like temp is over 110 degrees F / 43 degrees C), the two may or may not be correlated... Not the worst I suppose?
It's going as expected. Might try to get my room cleaned up.
My week was alright, I broke out the HTC Vive and got a lot of VR gaming in this week!
Pretty good. Aced my finals, flying out to New York tomorrow with my partner for a little vacay! Then it's back to school for summer term next Monday.
Went to do brake work on daughter's Honda, and she needs a lower control arm. There goes a few hours next Saturday!:)
Mine was good! Spent the week working my first few shifts with my new raise in effect. Felt good to be doing the same job but making more money! This weekend I was pulling my hair out trying to get my Lemmy instance set up but I got it done and have been spending my Sunday enjoying it! Overall, pretty successful week. Can't wait for my next paycheck.
Reddit drama had been fun to follow, lots of twists, evil bad guys and heroes. :)
Quite busy. We were booked up every night all weekend with parties, class reunions, and father's day shenanigans. Also we're taking care of a lot of business that needs to be taken care of before our 2nd baby arrives (probably Wednesday). It's been a weekend!
Moved into a new apartment after a remote work trip through europe.
Got necessary furniture, whitegoods and home wares, set up utilities. Started a new job, and managed my side business during off hours. Started learning Rust because i aim to contribute in small ways to Lemmy and build a ui. Had a sesh with my delta green group.
Was a busy week, but i feel oddly addicted to the level of activity. Learning rust is going a bit slow but I'm enjoying it!
Doing alright. I played hooky from work on Friday and have tomorrow off too. Did some house chores and a handful off the larger todo list.
I realized that the caffeine in soda impacts me very differently from the caffeine in coffee. I’ll only drink caffeine free soda to mix with my whiskey from now on, otherwise, I’m going to avoid that type of caffeine.
I had a really nice week! I took the week off and it lined up nicely with my partner being mostly off too. We took a day to go out cycling and sea swimming. Also got to sit in the pub with their friends which I hadn't done in ages. I was also invited to a book club meeting which my friend runs because apparently no one had read the book they were meant to and she had loads of food going spare. I met some really nice people through that! I hope I get to hang out with them again. I might even read some books haha!
Starting a new job today teaching! I'm nervous af and super apprehensive but I'm always like this before something new. I'm sure it'll be fine once I settle into the new routine. Just have to get over those first week jitters!
Eh busy week, abroad on a business trip for almost a month now. Weekend was nice though, got the chance to do some sightseeing. Other than that, still hoping for a particular person to contact me (I don't have their contact), not sure it will ever happen but hey, who knows, I am an optimist by nature :)
Not bad, but very very busy - I had like 5 different appointments to attend from various doctors! Though, one of them was a dentist appointment to correct a tooth filling that had come undone and was preventing me from enjoying eating anything so I'm glad to have that resolved! First thing I had was some pizza :)
I've got two appointments upcoming this week, but those should be fairly quick, and one of them is telehealth too which makes it a bit more convenient for me as well. I'm expecting this week should be less stressful!
Edit: Well, this morning that same tooth filling came undone... it hasn't even been a week =/ so whenever I can get back in to get it filled once more it'll be for the third time... Hopefully there's a better solution, such as a crown, because this is just bad. I wasn't even eating anything "rough" - just one of those breakfast fruit bars! Looks like I might've been wrong about this week not being stressful...
Had the week off from work, who doesn't love those? Mostly a staycation, went to a nice musical gathering, jammed with friends too, got stuff done, cleared head.
I am trying to practice mindfulness and gratitude a little more. I was able to lead Father’s Day for my dad and Father-in-Law. I grilled out all day and really did a pretty good job.
Even with the normal family gathering irritation, I was able to keep my cool and make it through 🤙
I did programming things, got depressed, learned some cooking and uh- I don't know what else.
Peacefully trying to chill on the beach, but the reddit drama once more ruins everything...
Doing alright, existing is getting really expensive though. Never seem to have free time to rest my mind these days, and any projects I had on the go are on hold as the money has dried up.
As a fellow poor person I completely understand
