I almost placed this in Politics, but it’s more news than actual politics.

I don’t know what people were expecting honestly. He was there for the photo op and good optics. Not to pay tabs.

I seriously do not understand why his base latched on to him so hard. Like, the man is every terrible stereotype of Americans rolled up into one, and he somehow manages to be worse THAN THAT. The only thing I can really think of is that his behavior gives people an out to be as shitty as they truly wanted to be. Kinda like that "He's not hurting the people he's supposed to be hurting" lady.

While we like to think we are rational creatures, most of the time we can be easily manipulated via our emotions - think of what Reddit or Facebook do (antiwork, idiotsincars, etc) to keep users scrolling. Trump is an entertainer at heart, and he uses negative emotions to keep his fans rabidly supporting him through thick and thin

He's the patron saint of bullies. Doesn't matter what he does as long as he's sticking it to the people they don't like. The kind of people who tell their kids, "I brought you into this world, I can take you out of it!"

When I saw that video Tuesday, this was my first thought. It's painfully on brand

Well, let's face it: logistics and executive details aren't something he is good at. He may have just assumed that since he said it, someone else would make it so. That is, as you say, "painfully on brand."

Just like how he just thought to declasify and nations vulnerability secrets got magically declasified.

He traveled back in time in his thoughts. You know he can do that. He's very stable genius.

It’s not news either, its business as usual.

That’s a fair assessment. The grift is real.

On the contrary, Trump skipping out on his bills is the opposite of news.

I read it and thought you might have posted it to c/funny (if that exists) :-)

When someone tells you who they are, believe them!
