Just bought my first macbook what apps should I install as a web developer?

During my entire life (32 years) I used windows and linux machines. Now I bought my first mac book and I would like to know what tools is nice to have to make my work easy.

I am a developer ruby on rails and use vscode, also I use the terminal a lot and the default terminal is not that great. Also I miss notepad++

Any sugestions?

Thank You

  • VS Code
  • iTerm2
  • homebrew

general stuff:

  • raycast launcher
  • alttab windows like alt tab
  • mos - mouse enhancements
  • rectangle - windows like window placement gestures
  • amphetamine - disable sleep for examples on power, etc
  • hidden bar - hide all these icons for the above lol

@viniciuspc I haven't found a good alternative to notepad++, I use vscode for some of the things I use notepad++ for on windows and TextEdit for notes. For development I mostly use the same apps I use on windows but I do prefer using macos overall.
