i've been hearing rumors of a new costco location for years now, sounds like it's finally (maybe?) happening.

that being said, we don't go all that often, there's only a few things that we buy somewhat regularly from there, and the parking lot always makes me crazy. but maybe having that one in place will help with some of the traffic from the others?

Why do you think the parking lots are so bad? I hear this a lot.

it's not so much the parking lot itself, but the people in it. for some reason, most costco shoppers are either super aggressive trying to get a parking spot, or will wait forever for a car to leave, and just generally seem impatient and rude. i mean you see it in other parking lots too, it just seems to be worse at costco, maybe just because it's busier? i dunno.

32 bike parking spaces instead of 64,

Minimums suck, but at least we're getting some bike parking spots. I'm looking at you, St. James Costco and your 0 spots.

To be fair, until we popularize bicycle trailers I feel like Costco isn't exactly a bicycle destination. Still, I'm glad bicycle spots are getting normalized!

As a resident of Crestview, this might actually prompt me to get a membership

Sounds good for the residents, it may be helpful for people as far as Portage La Prairie or maybe folks up highway 6.

I just hope they don't slow down the #1 near the west side of the city. That area already has so many intersections and speed restrictions for such a busy national highway.

When I returned after picking something up from the car at the old costco in Winnipeg, they wouldn't let me in since I didn't have my card. Only costco to treat me like that. Hope the new one has better customer service.

I've got to wonder -- maybe it's just part of the schtick. I've had similar experiences.

Aimless guess: because they're a private club, they're subject to a separate set of laws within the store. Like a private country club versus a public restaurant. Like, with a card check, they can't be sued for turning away bums -- it's not discrimination, at least not legally. But if they don't strictly enforce that, then suddenly they're subject to all the public shopping rules -- like Co-op or similar places that have memberships but don't check.
