I’ve been lightly eyeing it for a few months now since Nintendo 64 and Gameboy Advance games are available through the expansion, but wanted to see if people here have the expansion and like it.

If you do plan on getting it, I would recommend you buy a spot in a family membership through a trusted eBay seller rather than buy an individual membership directly from Nintendo. This is how I did it, and I was able save quite a bit of money doing so.

Had no idea those were even a thing. Thanks for the share.

I don't have it, but if they ever added a way to play the older Pokemon games my husband would want to get it because he has no other way to play them (and doesn't like emulating). I just hope they don't skyrocket the cost if they do add Pokemon.

I have a ridiculous fully-scraped fairly complete emulation set-up on my Steam Deck plugged in right next to my NS so it's really hard for me to justify the expansion pack when it actually results in a reduction of features and options for the games I'd be playing.

If it had a useful feature in it like easily hosting your screenshots/videos on a webpage for sharing/download I'd pull the trigger in a second because I'm sick as hell of the smartphone copy thing. I just got a Mirabox capture device so I can use OBS on my PC to record stuff instead of the build in NS system in an attempt to circumvent this hassle...

Yeah I can see the expansion not being worth it especially if you have that setup. Any Nintendo reps in here? Some potential service improvement ideas right here. ✨

I do and I really like it. The N64 games are really dope! Both the Zelda games, Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie are all fantastic. And now Metroid Fusion on the GBA too.

Super cool. Those are great N64 classics, and I'd be really interested to try out the GBA games. For some reason I never got into GBA as a kid so I feel like I missed that entire catalog of games.

I do. Not sure I'd noticed if it went away. Would be nice if it included something more.

We just got a switch and started out only with the Online Sub + Expansion and really like it. Classic games are really fun. Especially SNES games. N64 games feel a bit rough to play given it was the early days of 3D nintendo. My only other complaint is the bunch-of-games-in-one games (like a SNES Kirby collection), it's not very intuitive how to switch between games.

But goodness, Super Mario World & Donkey Kong Country, Yoshii, etc. Great stuff!

I'm playing through Ocarina of Time for the umpteenth time, Majora's Mask, Minish Cap, and Metroid Fusion. I feel like it's worth it. We have a family plan and my family all play Animal Crossing, so they enjoy the DLC that comes with the Expansion Pass.

It really does boil down to whether or not you care about the features it provides. If you have an easier way to emulate the N64, Genesis or GBA ( or have the original hardware) I wouldn't bother. The DLC perk isn't worth it on its own, as it's still cheaper to just buy the DLC straight out. The caveat being for yourself. If you're using a family plan, and play all of the games with the DLC, it can definitely be more affordable than buying all of the DLC 4 times.

Yep, have had it since launch.

Have always been a part of a family group with friends and we split the cost yearly. Makes it super affordable.

I don't touch the VC libraries too often but just the Mario Kart DLC that my son enjoys has probably justified the cost.

Wish I had friends...

I only want it to explore the Splatoon 3 expansion, but I put it down after I couldn't get my win/lose ratio much over 50%. :(

The day they add gamecube games is the day i’m sold, but the GBA library is still small and I personally don’t have any nostalgia for the N64, so it’s not currently worth the cost for me to upgrade from my base family plan

I don’t think GameCube games are likely to make it to this service.

Nintendo has been perfectly capable of selling GameCube games for the Wii U and Switch (whether as remasters or emulated games in small bundles). I expect them to continue doing that for the foreseeable future.

I think DS, Virtual Boy, and the Sega Master System are more likely to get added once the GB/GBC and GBA lineups are near complete.
