Students in states with a greater proportion of LGBTQ-inclusive sex education have lower odds of experiencing school-based victimization and adverse mental health. These findings can be used to guide intervention development at the school and state levels.

I went to school in the '10s and there was no mention of LGBT in sex ed. Just how the menstrual cycle works, effectiveness of different birth control, and how to get free condoms. I was called a lesbian a few times because I only hung out in a girl group but they just found other ways to insult me when I started hanging around guys as well. It turned out I was bi but yeah I got the feeling homophobia was just normal back then, encouraged even. I wonder if anything has changed.
