Its easy to get stuck on a rare card's theme or ability when building for limited formats (Prerelease/Draft/Sealed). Base your deck build on uncommons that share a theme and use the rares to supliment that instead of trying to build around one rare card. Once I started doing that my decks played better and didnt stall out if I couldn't draw the one rare card during a game.
