Not to be contrarian, but Melbourne is more than just the city. In fact, Metropolitan Melbourne is made up of 27 cities and 4 shires. (Not to mention regional Vic residents who would likely make this community their home)
I feel like we need something more... representative and unifying.
Maybe the MCG. Or.. uh.. I don't know. Someone else more creative help me out here...
Sydney can bung the Opera House up there and Robert's your mother's brother. Melbourne has... idk the West Gate? We need some funky world famous thingo.
(Just chuck up a green tram and call it done before someone breaks out the PTV coverage map.)

I like it, but it would probably work better as a banner than as the icon. It would be hard to see what it shows in a small size
