Will we see another ultra-consistent performance from Verstappen? Will Alonso finally get his 33rd? Will Lewis in the new Mercedes claim a victory, 16 years after his maiden win?

How will Ferrari bungle the strategy this weekend?

Max will win unless his car breaks. Still, things behind him have been getting more interesting this year, so let’s hope for more of that.

[–] RamesesKnibs@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Another McLaren double points finish surely isn't too much to ask for, right?

Right?

[–] shedinja@feddit.it 7 points 1 year ago

I just hope to see a good midfield battle between AM, Ferrari and Mercedes, since I can’t really see anything except a Max win on Sunday. He is just on another level.

Is it too much to ask for a Ferrari win?

[–] Cmmndrkn@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

As a Ferrari fan, yes.

[–] Omgarm@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Depends on what you are willing to sacrifice.

[–] Rob@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I’ll put my money on another Verstappen win. I hope Perez can get his act together.

[–] avapa@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Verstappen seems damn near unstoppable at the moment. RB got a fantastic car and his raw skill is incredible. Would like to get some sort of an upset, though. Having the same guy win every time gets kind of boring. Felt the same with Hamilton a couple of years back :/

Are we guaranteed to go on this weekend with the situation in Canada right now?

[–] frankdew@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The forecast is rain all week so I don't think it will be a problem.

[–] Naryn@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Oh so cancelled from flooding it is

[–] frankdew@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago

LOL... some people just want to watch the world ~~burn~~ drown

[–] Ecksell@lemmy.one 2 points 1 year ago

Not necessarily guaranteed, but the officials have assured us fans that the wildfires will not have impact significant enough to endanger folks nor cancel the race outright as of this time.

I'm looking forward to seeing Merc Vs Aston, trouble is Aston only really has 1 car lol

[–] tauonite@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

After Aston's bad weekend in Spain, I'm hoping they can bounce back with an Alonso podium. Mercedes's performance looked promising in Spain, I think it'll be a fight between Hamilton and Alonso for the final podium place behind Verstappen and Pérez.

[–] lordromanov 2 points 1 year ago

I'm still not convinced mercedes is above Aston given how they performed well at Spain last year before dropping down again after. Did the upgrades work or does their car just suit that track still?

VER PER ALO is inevitable.

Charles will have a good start to the weekend, decent Q1 and Q2 and then his engine will blow up in Q3. You heard it here first :D

[–] Thrashy 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Is it, though? Aston Martin took a real step back relative the field in Spain, and Mercedes seems to be getting their car to work better as well.

Now we just need Mercedes to find a few more tenths, and for Alfa Romeo to have a miracle, and we can go back to the good old days of HAM VER BOT!

[–] c0mpufreak@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago

we don't really know. Alonso had a destroyed floor in Qualy and also had some contact at the beginning of the race. You're right tho. Never discount Hamilton. Bottas would be a miracle indeed.

[–] gangstamouse 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I just want Leclerc to have a good race goddamn

[–] MoreIronOre@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ferrari won the 24h of Le Mans. It is only logical to assume we're due for a big Ferrari fuck up.

[–] Fluffysquash@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Used up all their strategy last weekend. They really should learn how to budget

[–] einderjam@iusearchlinux.fyi 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

At this point, a weekend where everything goes along smoothly (him, his race engineer, pit stops and strategy) would look like a victory

[–] gangstamouse 1 points 1 year ago

Dude, I would cry tears of joy if that were to happen

[–] randromeda@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

I need to see Aston Martin unveil the most illegal, protest-inducing, send-Newey-into-a-coma upgrades and for it to rain so my boy Lance can get that maiden win.

[–] CoolBeance@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm still rooting very hard for Mercedes. If Canada works out very well again, I think it will set a very different tone for the rest of the season

Maybe VER ALO PER? Would be great to see alonso score a couple of good points

[–] SouthernCross@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I'd love to see Yuki score some points this weekend. Let's go!

[–] jermy12321@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 year ago

I hope for exciting practice sessions as they are the only ones I can afford to attend.

We expect more surprises on Sunday geometry dash bloodbath

[–] bruzie@lemmy.nz 1 points 1 year ago

I'm just looking for excitement. It's very telling that the "Top 5 Battles of Canada" on the F1 YT channel includes three three-way battles, whereas the "Top 5 Battles of Spain" had a "battle" from qualifying.

[–] Tagger@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Anyone got a weather forecast?

[–] t0fr@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Atm, rain Friday thru Sunday

[–] Tagger@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yay, fun rain or so there will be no race at all rain.

[–] t0fr@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It says 1mm for now, so that sounds like fun rain to me!

[–] bobbo@midwest.social 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah, I’m going so I’ve been watching the weather closely. Looks like consistent forecasts for intermittent showers throughout the weekend. Should be fun :)
