First one didn’t really appeal to me too much, but this update with “missions” and different things to do looks like I might have to grab it!

[–] Anissem@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 year ago

God damn was that a good trailer.

I put a 1000h into MSFS2020, surely I can reach a 1000h more on this one!

Feel free to post screenshots of your game when it drops in !flightsim@lemmyfly.org

Is there a word to describe cumming in your pants, but in your brain? Cuz I just did that. My god that looks awesome and can't wait.

A bit weird since they said they'll be supporting the current iteration till 2030.

[–] Rick@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Just because they are releasing this one doesn't mean that 2020 will stop being supported. Have they said anything about ending support for it?

[–] smg950u@vlemmy.net 6 points 1 year ago

Pretty sick how theres some legit things to do now instead of kinda just piss around flying

[–] Kronusdark@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

I'm pretty upset that this isn't just an update, but a new game. with all the DLC and mods in the old one and this game taking up over 500GB of storage. installing both is gonna be a real pain.

[–] MetricExpansion@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Wait, what? I distinctly recall that the 2020 version was supposed to be a 10 year game…

[–] carbonprop@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This can’t be real. Are they seriously doing this?

"the sky is calling..." for your wallet

[–] tiwenty@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

This was beautiful as usual

[–] mkultramkii@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 year ago

Holy smokes!

Not a fan of this decision. Considering they said in MSFS2020 that they planned to support the game for a decade, it seems very premature to release a new game like this, especially since it seems like very little has changed in the engine to warrant an upgrade to a new product.

I'm assuming this is going the Train Sim World route where everything gets brought forward into the next version, but there are exclusive features locked to 2024. Not a big deal if there will be a substantial discount for previous owners, but I think we all know what Asobo is going to decide.

[–] TWeaK@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

I don't think Asobo controls the decision here, but rather Microsoft. The same company that looked at free services provided by Google and Facebook and said "Hey, we can do data collection too!". Now, Microsoft is the main company that makes you pay for them to steal your personal data so they can fatten their profits.

I know it is unrelated, but when I saw that ship in the scene with the oil rig, I suddenly wanted a new ship simulation game.

This does look fun, I would like to try fighting fires.

I only played the first during my trial of gamepass. I enjoyed it, but it hasn't gotten a sale that made me jump on it.

[–] simple@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

I love that they actually focused on things to do rather than just flying around realistically. Missions like firefighting, search and rescue, construction and more adds much needed gamification to flight sim!

[–] fortynineundefeated@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

Wow, looks great!

[–] fishhf@reddthat.com 2 points 1 year ago

are we finally getting replays in 2024?

[–] utopia_dig@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Wow, looks really great. I didn't even know there was going to be a new Flight Simulator next year.

[–] FrickAndMortar@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Stoked for this; wish I had a better PC to run it on, or that they’d port this to PS5

[–] surrendertogravity 1 points 1 year ago

I wonder how much this is going to be based on the current MS Flight Sim game? All I remember from that ad campaign was how detailed the world was, petabytes of data and so forth - surely they would be working on top of that to add new things to do rather than rebuilding it. 🤔

[–] Ashlexa@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I'm so excited for this! Doing SAR is going to be a blast. I hope they add some kind of career mode like OnAir

[–] itsmikeyd@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

They're really going to do everything before they give me what I want: Flight Combat Simulator.

This does look awesome though.

[–] adhdplantdev@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

Ok I know there are doing this for money but what's going to be the point of this new game? 2020 really set the bar high for flight simulators. If this game looks the same with more modes but hasn't improved the backend so it's better for 3rd party modders it's just not going to feel like a new game.
