tara sparring
pero itong ginagawa ng reddit eh kupal talaga. they want to shut down 3rd party apps but
- Denies they want to shutdown the 3rd party apps
- Hurls false accusations against 3rd party app developers
- Charges rates that are incredibly unreasonable
Nakakabuwisit lang talaga kasi reddit is my favorite website and it sucks that established communities will have to be rebuilt dahil sa kagaguhan nila
As a pro privacy and piracy I'm strictly against ads bat eto namang lemmy donation based lang nabubuhay naman atsaka yung jerboa na gawa mismo din nang gumawa ng lemmy nanghihingi siya ng donation pag unang bukas lang hindi na uulit-ulit pa di gaya ng ads na segu-segundo meron nanaman
As a pro privacy and piracy
Same here.
name na compose of 2 words and 4 numbers <30day account a generic positive comment dun sa post na pinopromote and also its the 1st and only comment. then multiply mo sa dami ng bots, so ang result nasa popular bigla yung post. ang nakakatawa, yung iba unknowingly nag rereply dun sa bots hahaha.
last time naalala kong post is yung indian teenage girl from slums, na piniling model ng beauty products. uplifting news diba? nasa popular uun, then pagcheck mo puro bots pala kaya nasa popular, while oo good for the girl, pero yung pagiging popular ay thru bots are not genuine. advertising strategy lng nangyare. same other soc. med. boost by bots.
Started using Apollo for Reddit when I shifted to iPhone. When I tried using the OG app again napansin ko na napakakalat nga pala ng OG, nakakadistract.
Nandito yong favorite subreddit ko or community na ba tawag dito. I was in lemmy.ml kasi akala ko yong c/Philippines don ay equivalent sub sa r/Philippines then na realize ko na napaka left leaning in general.
If hindi allowed maka rebuke yong ibang side di yan democrasya kundi diktatoryal.
I made an account here already just in case the subreddits I'm subscribed to permanently makes their subreddit on private, or their mods get replaced. I know r/twosentencehorror is going dark indefinitely, and a couple of other mods from other subreddits has said that they won't go back on public by June 14 if nothing changes.
I primarily use reddit on PC (old reddit + RES + uBlock Origin specifically), so I don't think the whole API thing would really affect me directly, but it will affect a lot of mods and other users. I really hope people don't just forget about this whole thing after a week.
And also, that whole AMA was a clusterfuck lmao. spez only responded to 14 questions, and the other 3 only responded 2-3 each. Most, if not all, weren't even answers. spez was doubling down on the whole "Apollo dev lying/tried to blackmail us" thing too. Yikes.
r/Videos mod/mods subreddit will shutdown on June 11th and will remain shut until reddit changes decision which is a huge blow to the platform and if they get replace they're planning to migrate to Tilde
I love Sync for Reddit and the way Reddit is going doesn't look good.
Plus, their CEO is definitely not the best choice 🤦♂️
Yeah, he was a dick on the AMA earlier.
The good news is they have no plans of shelving old.reddit daw.
I do hope the questionable stances on human rights that the devs of Lemmy have won't be a problem in the future though 😐
Ootl, anong meron sa lemmy devs?
Reddit fucked their mobile web, even using uBlock on my Firefox Mobile. They forced us to use their bloatware, intrusive app.
Even their redesigned Reddit desktop web is fucked. I was hoped new Redditors never experience these bullshitteries, but unfortunately spez (fuck u/) is unstoppable, and he can lie (watch out old.reddit shutdown)
Firefox mobile is slow af, reddit is faster in brave mobile though if you want to use it on mobile
Chromium and Firefox mobile browsers are equally the same, atleast on my mid-range Android device. I've been using Firefox both PC and mobile since 2016 pa, and yes, before it was shite. Seeing it improving over the years is really telling.
Same as others
It seems that I don't have a life and I can't live without this group lol.
I also use Infinity for Reddit on my phone and use Firefox with uBlock Origin when browsing on my PC. I am still open to just use the web version. Firefox Mobile has uBlock Origin too.
I use Sync and Apollo. I’m normally a lurker, but I want to leave reddit after seeing how the 3rd part app developers were treated.
Out of all the social media platforms i have reddit is by far the easiest to switch to (mainly cuz I dont have any personal connections to it in my daily life). Plus it used to be the most friendly to 3rd party app support so sad to see Sync and Infinity die so soon..
Also it's interesting to see how more people are slowly becoming aware of more free and federated alternatives to big tech right after Twitter got purchased by yknow who.
I use RIF on mobile, and on the desktop, RES and old.reddit.com
. Would have been blissfully unaware of this shitstorm had not for an announcement not just from RIF, but also from RES about their impending demise.
I looked around to find alternatives, but since the ideals of the Fediverse appealed to me, and that I've already had a Mastodon account, I gravitated towards Lemmy.
To be fair, however, this is a pretty promising alternative (ignoring the political leanings of the devs and all).
I didn't know even RES is due next in the chopping block. RIP RES
Hindi na rin naman talaga under active development ang RES even before pa nung API price hike, so it was just a matter of time.
TL;DR: It's not quite dead, but the writing is on the wall.
