Join the club. Everyone is struggling, not just the artists.

True, but a lot of artists are struggling to make half of what they used to because of AI image generation... which is unfortunate.

Absolutely. But acknowledging how this affects artists doesn’t undercut that, especially when an appreciable factor driving artists out of cultural epicenters is the influx of people moving in expressly to engage with the culture those artists produce.

When I graduated art school I originally planned to go to grad school, but the TA's at my university had paid 100k (and this was in the 00's) for their education, and they were making 20k a year as TA's.

So I went into corporate life, and luckily, it's worked out well. I'm still a working artist but lucky to make a good salary too.
