All things green, outdoors, and nature-y. Whether it's animals in their natural habitat, hiking trails and mountains, or planting a little garden for yourself (and everything in between), you can talk about it here.

See also our Environment community, which is focused on weather, climate, climate change, and stuff like that.

(It's not mandatory, but we also encourage providing a description of your image(s) for accessibility purposes! See here for a more detailed explanation and advice on how best to do this.)

They're so beautiful but people don't look at them really when they're used to them, I guess. But just watch the way deer move. They're incredible.

Also fawns are cute.

I will make this random opinion post 'educational' by adding that deer are ungulates, and that only female reindeer keep their antlers in the winter. This last point may depend on the species of reindeer though, I'm not sure.

On a not really related note, how tf do bighorn sheep and/or goats balance so confidently when they climb cliffsides. I will have to google this later.

I love deer. When I go hiking I always keep a look out for deer and take my son to see the deer when I can. I love their elusiveness. We also have a white deer in the herd near me. He’s quite the beast.

I appreciate them from afar as just a general animal lover, but I also live in an area where they are severely over populated and will casually hop on the busiest interstate in Ohio. It’s so dangerous. Also I wish the MFs would quit eating my poppies and tulips and hostas.

Was just in Japan where they have tame deer in a few of their parks. Beautiful creatures came right up to me!

Yeah, cute and incredibly stupid. We were driving down a road with lots of deer crossing it which was fine and we had to do some mild emergency braking, till a baby deer stared at us as we were approaching and just as we were supposed to pass it, decided to cross the road. We didn’t hit it, but it scared the beejesus out of me.

I would appreciate them more if they would just leave me alone and stop actively trying to destroy my stuff. Can't have any sort of garden without a fence, and they especially love to eat my tomato plants to the point where they are just a stick with no leaves left at all. They eat or destroy my young trees before they have a chance to get big. I almost totalled my first car when one jumped out in front of me, and when my brother and I rented a truck to do some towing a deer ran full speed INTO the side of the truck and did about $5k worth of damage. Also they spread ticks.

I do appreciate the taste of venison though....
