Thought I'd see who's about and whether we could get a thread going on music recommendations from what we're jamming today.

I started off with The Presidents - Dune Buggy as an ear worm, which was very much agreeable.

I’ve got a playlist going on my local Jellyfin instance featuring songs from Kingdom Hearts, Hollow Knight, Ori and the Blind Forst/Will of the Wisps, The Witcher 3, Celeste, and some other games. Super relaxing, helps me get into the zone.

I’ll often just set up my modular system to make some generative ambient music and let it play while I do work.

I can’t figure out how to share audio files here, but here’s a link to a Mastodon post where I shared a recent session: https://mastodon.social/@humorouslyironicname/110469751550920220

I find it very soothing.

Still listening again and again to 10 000 Gecs

[–] Hylactor@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

So addictive. I had no idea what I was getting into with that album. Then I listened to it multiple times a day for a week, haha.

I've actually been listening to Ukrainian artists to help support them on Spotify. Some of my favorites so far are:

Козакукомо_Роду by Jerry Heil

ДІКЕ РОЛЕ by YARMAK and ALISA

Гуляли by Kozak Siromaha

Ну ж бо also be Kozak Siromaha

Baшка-Встанька by Маша Кондратенко

Батьківщина by Skofka and KALUSH

Started off the day with a Nightmares on Wax radio on Youtube Music.

[–] DJDarren 3 points 1 year ago

Man, Nightmares on Wax takes me back. Les Nuits is a beautiful thing. In fact, the whole of Carboot Soul is.

[–] Clegko 4 points 1 year ago

Rush's Roll The Bones. Such an underrated album by them, imo.

Can't go wrong with some Presidents.

For me, it's just been one of those days, so I'm spending the evening zoning out to Mount Shrine's atmospheric Lost Loops Collection.

[–] DJDarren 2 points 1 year ago

Ooh, that's interesting! I'll bookmark that for when I need some concentratin' music at work.

I have been listening to Witch of the Vale. The song Death Dream got me started.

[–] irongamer 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Rimworld soundtrack... just like every other day.

[–] SevenSwell 3 points 1 year ago

It's so good! It's one of my most played games on steam and honestly sometimes I find myself playing it as an excuse to listen to the soundtrack.

Heard a lot of the new billy woods and Kenny Segal Album today

[–] hybridhavoc 4 points 1 year ago

Currently listening to a playlist put together by Martha Wells for her new book Witch King.

I've been listening to Daughter's new album, Stereo Mind Game. I personally love it, even though it seems like general opinion on this album is mixed among Daughter fans.

Haven't had anything on today, but I've been listening to Kansas again. I was totally immersed in their discography during college, but hadn't put them on in a couple years. Masque is one of my all-time favorite albums.

Hadn't listened to Pink Moon by Nick Drake in a bit. Spun it earlier. Just an immaculate record front to back.

[–] DJDarren 2 points 1 year ago

If you like Nick Drake (and why wouldn't you?), I fully recommend sitting with this documentary for a bit. It's genuinely one of the best pieces of radio I've ever heard.

[–] DJDarren 2 points 1 year ago

It might have helped to actually post the link…

Three Records from Sundown

I'm revisiting Crystal Fighters and their debut album
Star Of Love

[–] _ed@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 year ago

After listening to a Neil Young listography I,ve been checking out a small selection of the large amount of his work I haven’t heard. The guy is prolific.

Spotify started playing Something Corporate for me this morning. Love that band and the other projects Andrew McMahon has fronted!

[–] DJDarren 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Man, I've not heard that name in a number of years now!

[–] CobolSailor 3 points 1 year ago

Haha, I discovered him during Covid. I logged into Pandora one day and found some very old channels(?) I had created. Something Corporate came on and I was hooked!

[–] crmsnbleyd@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 year ago

Car seat headrest! Beach Life in Death is one of my absolute favourite songs

[–] Infinitybiscuit 3 points 1 year ago

I’m finally giving The Monks a listen. So far it’s pretty good. Wildly contrary to some of the sounds of tue 60’s.

[–] Homs@feddit.de 3 points 1 year ago

I'm really enjoying Mild High Club right now

[–] kynan 3 points 1 year ago

I love that track, and all The Presidents' albums, such a wholesome bunch of guys 🙂

I've been working, so this long-play trance playlist by DJ Phalanx / State Control Records on SoundCloud has been drowning out the background noise: https://on.soundcloud.com/5xEfb

How I'd kill by Cowboy Malfoy: https://youtu.be/_4eP9__5AGs

Song is a bop in 2 parts, I love the change in mood of the song, really depicts the swirl of oscillating emotions you feel after a breakup

[–] mint 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

It was the ten-year anniversary of Endless Fantasy last month, and the perfect weather for it now, so I'm bumping it (and probably the whole discog soon after)

Checked out the new avenged sevenfold album, was pretty good overall but a bit all over the place imo

[–] cityboundforest 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I haven't been listening to much music, but I have been vibing to the Eurovision music (notably Cha Cha Cha and Who the Hell Is Edgar) along with my staples of Dodie, Cavetown, Orla Gartland, Tessa Violet, and Lizzy McAlpine.

[–] DJDarren 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Finland were robbed! Nul points to the juries!

[–] cityboundforest 2 points 1 year ago

No.but like actually they were. At least they got second place

[–] Cattypat 2 points 1 year ago

Been listening to the album Anima by Elephant Gym! Great math rock

[–] HorreC@karab.in 1 points 1 year ago

Trying out the last album from Diablo Swing Orchestra, I never gave it a fare shake the one other time I listened to it.
