Elon Musk just turned your DMs into an ad for Twitter Blue. But you can change it back. Here's how.

Elon will force so many people to pay for it now.

Sometimes it doesnt save the setting even after you change it manually. I changed mine to allow DMs from everyone a couple days ago when this first dropped, and i just checked my settings a few hours ago and it had reverted to only Verified users. Real annoying

Enshitification continues... Fediverse popcorn intensifies. They're putting this in play because Musk shredded Twitter's moderation team and now he doesn't have the staff to deal with reports on DMs, adding yet another chapter to the case study in business failure that Twitter will go down in history for. Upvote because every stupid thing they do there brings more users here.

Wow, they're desperate.

Next up: Twitter sends you tens of DMs from hot girls in your area as soon as your Blue subscription runs out.

That.. is a good thing, don’t have to get spams anymore.

Silently blocking DMs from people you wanted to be able to DM you is spam prevention?

I am more talking from my own perspective of how I use Twitter.

So you left your DMs open to everyone?

Then got hit with spam?

OK. Your choice.

all the spam that i see on twitter now is coming from blue checkmarks.

[–] thingsiplay@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

@dowath Verified Spam.

It seems that it doesn't override the setting "Allow messages only from people you follow" if you had it configured like this, which IRC was the previous default. So I don't really see the issue with this tbh.

I… Jesus.

This HAS to be a reboot of the Producers. I mean, I know he's stupid but he has to be able to see this.

It just keeps getting worse and worse. How much longer until everyone has switched off the platform?
