Supervillain origin story if I've ever heard one
Sounds like it was a 2 petawatt pulsed laser, with picosecond pulses, so 2kJ/pulse. Staggering amount of power and energy for a pulsed laser!
Note that it's not CW, so the average power will be much, much, much less than the pulsed power. Too lazy to find the rep rate to see average power.

That's a pretty niche role, a position as part of the laser grid at a museum is much more steady
Skillset too specialized. He'll never get another job in that field.
The amount of cannons that have had to get in the unemployment line is stratospheric.
