I did not expect France to be in second place

[–] BevelGear 5 points 3 weeks ago

Yea. That surprised me, as well.

biggest lie in the united states.. that our military-industrial welfare program is for our defense.

its so we can supply the world with human killing devices

this is why we cant 'afford' universal health care

Not true, the US-american healthcare system currently is one of the most expensive in the world, spending more per capita than for example Germany. It's simply very inefficient because it's a for-profit system.

thats why its quoted, its just another lie that we cant afford it

Yea. I just finished the movie, Lord of War, and got curious. I wish that movie wasn't as accurate as it was.

It is absolutely not why we don't have universal healthcare

Hm, I thought south Korea would be in this list for sure.

[–] BevelGear 2 points 3 weeks ago

It's not on this list, but it is one of US's customers.

South Korea – F100 propulsion system and spare parts to the Republic of Korea Ministry of National Defense ($1.2 billion)

Eight nations of the world represent 85.2% of the arms trade, and the US makes half of that.

The other 200 or so have 14.8% of the market.

I guess I'm not really surprised, this is classic pareto / 1%er representation

Yea. At least, I now know why world peace won't happen in my lifetime. War is too profitable.
