Well DT, I got the place... and at the original rent no less (thanks, sloppy REAs!). Payment has gone through so it's official.

I'm relieved but also... now that it's real my heart is also filled with incredible, crushing sadness. I know it's going to be good for me to downsize and cull and open up my life to new options but I am so, so, sad to have to let go of my comforts here under such ugly circumstances. I can't even bear to look at my plants, it breaks my heart. Such is life though, isn't it. Change does not always happen the way we want it to. (and this isn't by far the worst experience I've had having to leave a house)

My plan for tonight is to just make a meta-list of tasks so that I don't feel too overwhelmed, but after that I'm going to just let the emotions flow through and watch an episode of Shrinking and take it easy. No stiffer up lip tonight. The work will start tomorrow. I know I'll get through this, there is joy on the other side. β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

I can’t even bear to look at my plants

Honestly again I'm more than happy to look after them in the interim until they either follow you and/or for when you find them a new home (I promise I won't eat them).

Second this!

We've decided to campervan around NZ. There will be a luxury hotel at the end.

Count me in! You were so fucking awesome last time, and I was rapt for you when those strangers gave you praise for your set after! That was so damn cool!

I wouldn't miss it :D

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 9 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

That's incredibly kind of you :)

I'll be honest, that whole night made me feel the best I've felt in a really, really long time.

I just could not be fucked going out to get some beer, so I found some vodka, plopped some ice in it, and a bit of orange juice.

This is acceptable

πŸ˜‚ I just realised last week that I didn't have to do that crappy xmas dinner in July shitty deal. MIL#1 really wanted me to cook a xmas dinner and have all the celebration but without presents. So last year I did, I made a lovely three course xmas dinner then made everyone watch two different Scrooge movies so they truly understood the meaning of xmas. They did not expect to celebrate the meaning of xmas, they just wanted a fancy dinner and to be fashionable. They did not like the Scrooge. They have never mentioned xmas in winter/July again. πŸ˜„

About to walk to the shops down here on the foreshore and I reckon I'll get 13 'hellos' Gonna count that shit then when I get back to melbs in a few days going to say hello to randos and I'm going to compare how miserable we all are.

I miss that from when I lived in the country.

In the news today: It's official. Pauline Hanson is a racist.
I nearly made a post about it - but I decided it wasn't actually news to anyone.

Hello everyone,

FYI I posted a meme about this community on !fedimemes@feddit.uk : https://aussie.zone/post/15001506

I'm always impressed with how active your daily threads are, what is your secret? πŸ˜„

[–] Alamutjones@aussie.zone 10 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

A pre-existing community, mostly. Three quarters of the people in this thread all joined at the same time (the same day, many of us) and for the same reason.

We came here already accustomed to talking shit all day

I got some cans of cat food from the food cupboard this arvo - diet chicken mousse that someone else's cat presumably didn't like. Miss Meow seems enthusiastic about it so that's definitely a win.

My holiday has begun with a pint of Guinness at the pub, and a lamb kebab n chips grabbed on the way home. I will now find something brainless to watch and enjoy it in the happy knowledge that nobody expects me to do anything for several days

The illustrated edition of The Hobbit is back in stock at Kmart. You can get it from other places, but Kmart sells it for half the price of everywhere else all the time.

Of course I'm only sharing this after I finally ordered a copy: https://www.kmart.com.au/product/the-hobbit-by-jrr-tolkien-book-42864189/

Been leaving before tinyest wakes up the last few days, get home and he wants almost nothing to do with me. I am home today though so he woke up with me and wanted all of the cuddles.

So cuddles only happen in the morning? I can live with that.

[–] Alamutjones@aussie.zone 8 points 2 weeks ago

Gonna wander to pub. Back later

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 8 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Have discovered a fantastic little cafe near my work that does the most amazing toasties. The first time I had one I had my mind blown, thought it could have just been a fluke, but nope, 2 different toasties later, tis confirmed delicious place, completely with excellent vibes! Anyone near Moorabbin Airport needs to checkout Milhouse!

What's with all the people complaining about kids taking all the Halloween treats? They just leave a bowl out there , what do they expect.

You're supposed to decorate yer house a little, make a welcome sign then wait for kids to knock on your door. The kids say trick or treat and you decide. If no treat they can trick you. Give nice treats and maybe have something Halloweeny to do. They wear cute costumes and you get to talk with kids and community. It's meant to be interactive and fun.

the videos look like karma farming exercises. πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„

Someone smells like they've bathed themselves in aftershave today and it stinks, I don't know how they walk around without knowing how bad and strong it smells.

I feel like my senses are being assaulted, let the day end quickly!

I’m crawling out of my skin but have no energy to do something physical but mindless… also no focus to do something more mentally stimulating.

I wish I was out of here, had my health more in check and had the room/reserves to be doing things

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Finally paid off the toy sale laybuy. I tell you what, I'm not doing that in store again. Next year I'll add whatever can go through laybuy online and buy what can't in store.

All this for $300 worth of toys as well. I almost used laybuy to not have to hide everything at home for 6 months
