Only one volume this week since I started with a Manga for once (Witch Hat Atelier).
To Another World... with Land Mines! Volume 9 - Still no actual land mines in sight. Not even a stray claymore. You get an out-of-context side story smack in the middle between two chapters though. There's that... I suppose the story is mostly filled with filler and set up for a new arc that will start the next volume.
Witch Hat Atelier is a great manga. Maybe I should catch up with it as I have 8 unread chapters.
Right now I finished 7 volumes and I think it's so good that I am this close to buying the manga in physical form. <-- notorious physical hater
edit: I just finished volume 9 and I think I'm done with he series. Fuck it
Can't wait for anime adaptation (in 2025 ;-;)
The trailer looked so great, but it's by the studio that messed up the Zombie anime. I hope they've learned some lessons from that production and can deliver on Witch Hat Atelier.
sidenote: Honestly, I wonder who decides which studio gets which series. As I understand it Witch Hat Atelier is extremely popular and well-received, so how can a studio with a single anime under its belt (and with a botched production of that one anime) score such a high-profile series?
Caught a flu so I had a bit of time to read.
Even a Replica Can Fall in Love - interesting story with nice climax but the ending after the climax was emotionally unsatisfying. A bit confusing on how the main supernatural power works. I would think that original sunao would end up in totally different circumstances than it was portrayed in the novel.
The Magic in this Other World is Too Far Behind! vol 1-4 - After the second volume quality slowly started to drop. In the fourth volume amount of lolis reached critical amount and author chose to write a harem of lolis around MC and I don't want to read something like that. (at least he doesn't do something explicit or implicit to them.) Action scenes felt a bit too long. The plot was uninteresting. Twists and turns felt forced. I wouldn't recommend reading it.
First and Last Idol ⅓ - this is a collection of sci-fi short stories and I have only read the first one. There are some modern sci-fi tropes. The plot felt like an approach towards black hole. Reader wishes that it would stop. It doesn't stop. The technical mumbo jumbo was a bit much and reading it felt like fever dream of man made horror.

Since the boss NineSwords has broken the rules about non Light Novels topics I will do the same and mention I have been reading some manga as well so haven’t read as many LNs. I still haven’t got the hang of reading them, reading the panels in the wrong order or treating it like a novel and ignoring the drawings.

okay, I have to ask... how?
Sometimes I just want to know what happens next or if I’m in a hurry I end up just reading the text. I notice the pictures but they don’t register properly so I have to go back and look at them again.
I see, like just looking at the broad strokes but not looking at the details. I.e. "MC sitting in room saying something" instead of "MC saying something while sitting at her desk with anxious body language and fiddling with a pen while the bin and floor are littered with crumpled sheets of paper". I do that as well whenever I read a manga, but in Witch Hat Atelier I seem to linger on the details and zoom in from time to time to drink it all in.
And to be fair I often do the same with light novels where MC's inner monologue is mostly rambling. I scan the pages for quotation marks and just read those when it seems like MC is going on an especially bad tangent.
