Tamara Lich, Chris Barber accused of orchestrating 2022 demonstration that took over downtown Ottawa It started more than a year ago, took nearly 50 days in a courtroom and may not be decided until next year, but the trial of two leaders of the 2022 "Freedom Convoy" protest in Ottawa finally ended Friday.

Tamara Lich and Chris Barber pleaded not guilty to mischief, intimidation, obstruction and other charges.

Crown prosecutors called 16 witnesses and presented hours of video evidence and numerous social media posts in an effort to prove their case.

I seriously hope these two racist assholes get what they deserve, but with Lawrence Greenspon as their lawyer, who knows.

Hope they get thrown into a dark hole. Assholes.

Police never got a chance to confiscate Lich's phone: On the advice of lawyers, she had left it behind before her anticipated arrest.

Could the prosecution not get a warrant for the phone? Serious question. I'm a USA citizen, so I don't know what could be different in Candialand.

If the trial is over, why won't it be until next year that judgement is decided?

The Judge will now look at the written submissions from both sides, look at the evidence, look at similar trials, and make sure they take enough time to make their decision in a way that won't be overturned on appeal.

it's how trials work in Canada.

Thank you for explaining it, I appreciate it.

Not a problem!

Another reason why it's sometimes so far away is that they need a date that's available for the lawyers on both sides, the judge, and the courtroom is available; sometimes it's a nightmare.
