I got introduced to it in the R site.
Links, formatting and tables. Tables are awesome.

I use Markor on Android. The search/replace feature's regex option makes formatting data into tables easier.

I only use markdown on sites like this, reddit and Tildes included. I think the Mastodon instance I'm on also allows it.

I use a program called QOwnNotes which uses markdown formatting. It's pretty good so far, first time using markdown, seems practical for the note taking usecase
